Constitution of Rural Fire District

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington, this 17th day of November, 1948

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Forest and Rural Fires Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby constitute and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a rural fire district, to be known as the “Puhipuhi Rural Fire District”; and doth hereby specify the trees and other plants on the State forest land situated in the said area as the property for the protection of which the district is constituted; and doth hereby specify the period between the first day of October in any one year and the thirtieth day of April in the following year (both days inclusive) as a closed fire season in the said district; and doth hereby prescribe that the said Puhipuhi Rural Fire District shall be administered by the Commissioner of State Forests for the purposes of the said Act; and doth hereby further declare that this Order in Council shall come into force on the day following publication thereof in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY

Puhipuhi Rural Fire District

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, Whangarei County, containing 5,800 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks IV, VII, VIII, XI, and XII, Hukerenui Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the east by the Kaimamaku Stream; towards the south by Puhipuhi 5c 4, 5c 3, and 5c 2 Blocks; towards the west generally by the Waiariki River and the eastern sides of Gibbs Road and Puhipuhi Mine Road; towards the north-west by Section 8, Block VII, Hukerenui Survey District, and by a right line from the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned section to the south-western corner of Section 14, Block III, Hukerenui Survey District; towards the north by Section 14, Block III aforesaid, and by the southern boundary of that section produced to a stream; towards the north-east by a stream; again towards the north-west by the Waiariki River; and again towards the north by Section 10, Block IV, Hukerenui Survey District, and the crossing of a public road to the Kaimamaku Stream. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 9/19, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—CANTERBURY CONSERVANCY

Hanmer Rural Fire District

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Amuri County, containing approximately 20,000 acres, situated in Blocks XIV and XV, Percival Survey District, and Blocks II, III, VI, and VII, Lyndon Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north by a right line from Trig. Station O in Block XIV, Percival Survey District, to Trig. Station MP in Block XV, Percival Survey District; towards the north-east by a right line from Trig. Station MP aforesaid to the north-eastern corner of Section 10, Block VII, Lyndon Survey District; towards the south-east by the left bank of the Hanmer River to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 77, Block VI, Lyndon Survey District; towards the west generally by a right line to the south-eastern corner of Section 77, Block VI aforesaid; thence by Sections 77 and 63, Block VI aforesaid, and Section 50, Block II, Lyndon Survey District; towards the south by Sections 50 and 49, Block II aforesaid; again towards the west by part of Section 30 Block I, Lyndon Survey District, Reserve 3656, by Hanmer Township, by Sections 8 and 5, Block II aforesaid, and by Section 23, Block I aforesaid, to the south-western corner of 3661; and towards the north-west by a right line to Trig. Station O aforesaid. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 129/50, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Waikato and Hauraki Plains Counties, containing approximately 28,000 acres, situated in Blocks IV, VII, VIII, and XII, Maramarua Survey District, and Blocks I, II, V, VI, VII, IX, X, and XI, Piako Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north-east by the north-eastern side of the Pokeno-Paeroa State Highway, by Allotments 68 and 69A, Maramarua Parish; thence by a right line from the south-eastern corner of Allotment 69A aforesaid to the easternmost corner of Section 28, Block VII, Piako Survey District; thence by Sections 29 and 6, Block VII aforesaid; towards the east by the eastern side of North Road and Section 12, Block XI, Piako Survey District; towards the south generally by Section 2, Block XI aforesaid, Allotments 467, 468, 512, 205A, 204, 203, 202, 376, 377, 199, 197, and 128, Whangamarino Parish; thence by the Whangamarino River and Allotments 129A, 124, 116, 104, 268, and 267, Whangamarino Parish, and again by the Whangamarino River; towards the south-west by the south-western side of a public road; towards the south-east by Lot 34 on D.P. 10628, being part of Allotment 37, Maramarua Parish; towards the south-west by Crown land, Block VII, Maramarua Survey District; towards the north-west by Lots 29 and 28 on D.P. 10628, being part of Allotment 65, Maramarua Parish; thence by a right line from the north-eastern corner of Lot 28 aforesaid to the south-eastern corner of Allotment 41, Maramarua Parish, and thence by a right line to the easternmost corner of Allotment 2, Maramarua Parish; towards the north by Allotments 2 and 1, Maramarua Parish, and Sections 1s, 2s, and 4s, Kopuku Settlement; towards the south-west by Sections 4s, 3s, 9s, and 8s, Kopuku Settlement; towards the north by Allotment 56 and Lot 2 of Allotment 55, Maramarua Parish; and towards the north-west by the north-western side of a public road to and across the Pokeno-Paeroa State Highway. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 25/28, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
