SECOND SCHEDULE
DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR
Taranaki Land District
ALL that area containing by admeasurement 27 acres, more or less,
being part Lot 2 on D.P. 4348, and being part Section 2, Block III,
Mapara Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated
on the plan marked L. and S. 36/1320, deposited in the Head Office,
Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged
green.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 6th day of October, 1948.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Orari Gorge Scenic Board

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act,
1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the
Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act), for the
period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered
or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons,
namely,
Arthur John Blakiston,
Alexander Adamson,
Stanley James Neutze,
Lawrence William McLeod, and
John Mather Polhill,
who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the
name of the Orari Gorge Scenic Board (herein referred to as the
Board), in trust, for the preservation of scenery, and with the
powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is
to say:

  1. The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Thursday,
    the twenty-first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and
    forty-eight at half past two o'clock p.m., at the residence of Mr.
    J. M. Polhill, Orari Gorge, and thereafter the Board shall meet
    for the transaction of business on the third Thursday in each month
    at the time and place aforesaid, or at such other time or place as
    may from time to time be fixed by the Board.
  2. The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and
    thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one
    of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and
    shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman
    shall hold office until the election of his successor.
  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided
    that two days' notice of such meeting is given to each member,
    specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting,
    and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at
    such meeting.
  4. Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.
  5. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes
    of the members of the Board present at the meeting.
  6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time
    appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose
    one of their number to be Chairman for such meeting.
  7. If, by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat
    of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents
    himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings
    of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint
    any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.
  8. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting
    to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the
    proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-
    first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and
    expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such
    report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct,
    shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as
    soon as possible after each annual meeting.
  9. The Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with
    the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.
    SCHEDULE
    CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.-ORARI GORGE SCENIC RESERVE
    RESERVE 3811, Block XII, Four Peaks Survey District: Area,
    197 acres 2 roods, more or less.
    As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
    this 6th day of October, 1948.

    Vesting the Control of a Reserve in the Ship Cove Reserve Board

    IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
    upon him by subsection three of section ten of the Reserves
    and other Lands Disposal Act, 1935, His Excellency the Governor-
    General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the
    control of the reserve described in the Schedule below for the period
    of five years from the date hereof in the undermentioned persons,
    namely,
    The Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Marlborough Land
    District, ex officio,
    His Worship the Mayor of Picton, ex officio,
    Henry Joseph Stace,
    Norman Gifford Parker,
    Alfred Andrew Perano,
    Frederick Evans Musgrove,
    William John Elvy, and
    Clifford Edwin Townshend,
    who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by
    the name of the Ship Cove Reserve Board (herein referred to as
    the Board) in trust, as a reserve in memory of its occupation
    by Captain Cook, with the powers and subject to the conditions
    hereinafter contained, that is to say:
  10. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the
    second Tuesday in the months of November, February, May, and
    August in each year, at half past eleven o'clock a.m., at Ship Cove,
    or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed
    by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Tuesday, the ninth
    day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty-eight.
  11. The Commissioner of Crown Lands shall be the Chairman
    of the Board. He may join in the discussion, and shall have an
    original as well as a casting vote.

    (1) Governing trading within the reserve; and
    (2) Controlling or limiting the taking of collections within
    the reserve for any objects other than the improvement
    of the reserve.
  18. The Board may, with the approval of the Minister in Charge
    of Scenery Preservation, make such rules as it deems necessary
    for the good conduct of the public frequenting the reserve, and may
    set apart areas for camping-grounds or other purposes, and may
    fix reasonable charges for the use thereof in accordance with a scale
    to be approved from time to time by the Minister.
  19. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting

    particularly delineated on the plans marked L. and S. 4/446A and
    4/446B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and
    Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
