Minister's Decisions under Customs Acts
Customs Department, Wellington, 7th September, 1948.
T Is hereby notified for public information that the Right Hon. the Minister of Customs has decided to interpret the Customs Acts in relation to the undermentioned articles as follows:-
NOTES.- (a) 'Not elsewhere included' appears as n.e.i.; 'other kinds' as o.k.; 'articles and materials suited for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication or repair of goods within New Zealand' as a. and m.s. (b) Articles marked thus β are revised decisions. (c) The rates of duty payable on goods set out hereunder have not been shown except in the case of goods classed under Tariff items 416, 448, and 449 (2), and of goods admitted (under the provisions of section 11 of the Customs Amendment Act, 1927) at a rate of duty lower than that provided for in the First Schedule to the Customs Acts Amendment Act, 1934. Where goods are admitted under the provisions of section 11 aforesaid, the reduced rate is marked with an asterisk. (d) Steam-engines, gas-engines, oil-engines, and electric or other motors are not, unless otherwise indicated, to be regarded as parts of the machines with which they are imported. (e) Surtax as provided for in section 5 of the Customs Acts Amendment Act, 1930, or primage duty as provided for in section 4 of the Customs Acts Amendment Act, 1931, as the case may be, is payable in addition to the duties set out hereunder.

NOTICE is hereby given that on the dates stated in the first column hereunder the undermentioned specifications were declared to be standard specifications by the Minister of Industries and Commerce pursuant to section 8 of the Standards Act, 1941:

Unclaimed Lands.--Notice by the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II), and its Amendments
To the owner of the following land, that is to say: All that parcel of land containing 39 poles, more or less, being Section 14, Block XII, on the map of the Town of Waihola, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 33, folio 53, of the Register-book at Dunedin, the registered proprietor of which is John Reid, of Dunedin, Gentleman.
WHEREAS, after due inquiry, the owner of the above-described land cannot be found: And whereas the said owner has no known agent in New Zealand:
Now, the Public Trustee hereby calls upon such owner, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his title to the said land, and if he fails or neglects so to do the Public Trustee will exercise as regards the said land the powers and authorities granted to him in and by the Public Trust Office Act 1908 (Part II), and its amendments.
