Members of Tobacco Board Appointed

B. C. FREYBERG, Governor-General

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by section three, subsection one, of the Tobacco-growing Industry Act, 1935, I, Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint—

Frederick Edward John Jeffcott and
John Gershon Lisman

as representatives of the manufacturers in place of Cedric Malcolm Paynter and Walter Robert Oliver respectively, both of whom retired on 31st July, 1948 ;

and reappoint—

Martin Henry Thorn

who, in pursuance of section four of the said Act, retired on 31st July, 1948, as representative of the growers ;

and appoint—

Kossuth John Newman

as representative of the growers in place of Nolan Rowling who, in pursuance of the said section four of the said Act, retired on 31st July, 1948.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, this 27th day of August, 1948.

Setting Apart Unalienated Crown Land for Purposes of Part III (State Coal-mines) of the Coal-mines Act, 1925

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by subsection one of section one hundred and sixty-seven of the Coal-mines Act, 1925, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the unalienated Crown land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for the purposes of Part III of the said Act, and do hereby further declare that this notice shall take effect as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.


SCHEDULE

NELSON LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area of land in the Buller County, containing by admeasurement 32 perches, more or less, being Section 61, Town of Denniston, situated in Block VI, Kawatiri Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked Mines 6/110, deposited in the Head Office of the Mines Department at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Nelson S.O. plan 3524.)

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Tuakau Town Board

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Tuakau Town Board, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say :—

  1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

  2. The said Board shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

  3. The said Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

Section 81: Suburbs of Tuakau, situated in Blocks IV and VIII, Onewhero Survey District : Area, 5 acres 3 roods 12 perches, more or less.

Notice of Intention to issue an Order in Council revoking the Reservation for Recreation Purposes over a Reserve in the City of Christchurch, Canterbury Land District

WHEREAS by subsection one (b) of section seven of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), it is provided that the Governor-General may, from time to time, by Order in Council, revoke the reservation over any public reserve or part thereof, and thereupon the land comprised therein shall, if vested in the Crown or in any local authority or trustees deriving title from the Crown, become Crown land available for disposal under the Land Act, 1924, and in any other case may, subject to the provisions of subsection five of the said section seven of the said Act, be disposed of in such manner and for such purposes as may be stated in such Order in Council :

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is a recreation reserve which on the subdivision of private property for residential purposes was vested, in trust, for recreation purposes in the body corporate called the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Christchurch :

And whereas the reserve is not required for recreation purposes, and it is expedient that the reservation over the said land be revoked :

And whereas the said body corporate has passed a resolution consenting to such revocation, and has in all respects complied with the provisions of subsections three and four of the said section seven of the said Act :

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby give notice, pursuant to subsection two of section seven of the said Act, that it is my intention to issue an Order in Council under the provisions of subsection one (b) of the said section seven revoking the reservation for recreation purposes over the land described in the Schedule hereto, and declaring that the said land may be disposed of by the said body corporate by way of sale by public auction or private contract at such price and on such terms and conditions as the said body corporate shall determine, but so that the proceeds of any such sale shall be used and applied in or towards the purchase of other land for recreation purposes.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area containing by admeasurement 1 rood 20 perches, more or less, being Lot 2 on D.P. 12870, being part of Rural Section 103, situated in the City of Christchurch. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/9750, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 30th day of August, 1948.
