from the Provisions of Section 128 of the Public Works Act,
1928

At the Government House at Wellington, this 21st day of
July, 1948.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

Pursuant to section one hundred and twenty-eight of the
Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby
approve of the following resolution passed by the Blenheim Borough
Council on the twenty-sixth day of May, one thousand nine hundred
and forty-eight, in so far as it affects the sides and portions of streets
described in the Schedule hereto, viz. :—

“ The Blenheim Borough Council, being the local authority
having control of the roads in the Borough of Blenheim, by
resolution declares that the provisions of section one hundred
and twenty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1928, shall not apply
to the northern side of Park Terrace and the western side of
Opawa Street fronting on Lots 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 of Section 46,
District of Opawa, and contained in the Certificates of Title,
Volume IIc, folio 225, Volume 29, folio 93, and Volume 10,
flio 269.”

SCHEDULE

The northern side of all that portion of street situated in the Marl-
borough Land District, Borough of Blenheim, known as Park
Terrace, fronting part Section 46, District of Opawa, part of Lot 8
of Section 46, District of Opawa, and parts of Lots 6 and 7 of
Section 46, District of Opawa, D.P. 373.

Also the western side of all that portion of street situated in
the said land district and borough, known as Opawa Street, fronting
part Section 46, District of Opawa.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 126886, deposited in the office of the Minister of
Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Officers authorized to take and receive Statutory Declarations

Pursuant to the authority conferred upon me by the three-
hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act,
1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the
Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding
the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said
Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations
under the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the
Peace Act, 1927.

Revoking a Sanctuary and declaring Areas at Lake Tutira in the
Hawke's Bay Acclimatization District to be a Sanctuary under
the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22

In pursuance of the powers conferred on me by section six of the
Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Lieutenant-
General, Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby—

(a) Revoke the Warrant made under the said section on the
twentieth day of February, one thousand nine hundred
and twenty-nine, and published in the Gazette of the
twenty-first day of the same month, at page 445, declaring
certain areas to be sanctuaries under the said Act, in
so far as that Warrant relates to the area included under
the heading “ Hawke's Bay Acclimatization District ”
and described in Schedule I hereto.

(b) Notify and declare the areas described in Schedule II hereto
to be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act.

SCHEDULE I

An area in the Tutira Block : All that area in the Tutira Block, in
Hawke's Bay Land District, being the property of H. Guthrie-
Smith, Esquire, together with the lakes and other waters lying within
the said property.

SCHEDULE II

Firstly, all that area of land and water in the Hawke's Bay Land
District, comprising portions of the waters of Lake Tutira and the
whole of the waters of Lakes Waikopiro and Orakai and their
bordering lands, bounded as follows : Commencing at a point on
Lake Tutira at the source of the Mahiaruha Stream ; thence south-
easterly by the south-western boundary of Tutira B 19 Block to
Tutira C Block ; thence southerly by the western boundary of
Tutira C Block to the abutment of a reserve under section 129 of
the Land Act, 1924 ; thence generally southerly along the northern
and eastern boundaries of that reserve to the northern boundary
of Section 6, Block XIII, Moeangiangi Survey District ; thence
south-westerly along the southern boundary of the aforesaid reserve
to the Napier-Gisborne State Highway ; thence westerly by a
crossing of that highway ; thence northerly and westerly by the
western side of that highway and the southern boundary of Section 15,
Block XII, Maungaharuru Survey District, to the easternmost point
of a reserve under section 129 of the Land Act, 1924 ; thence generally
south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary and northerly and
easterly along the western and northern boundaries of the said
reserve to its intersection with the northern boundary of Section 15,
Block XII, Maungaharuru Survey District ; thence south-easterly
along that boundary to the Napier-Gisborne State Highway ;
thence generally north-westerly along the western side of that
highway to a point in line with the southern boundary of Tutira B 9
Block ; thence north-easterly across the aforesaid highway to and
along the south-eastern boundaries of Tutira B 9 Block to the point
of commencement.

Secondly, all that area of land in the Hawke's Bay Land District
being Section 12, Block XII (Gravel Reserve), Maungaharuru
Survey District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 13th day of July, 1948.

Declaring Crown Land in the Canterbury Land District to be subject
to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925

Whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto (herein-
after referred to as the said land) is Crown land not acquired
under the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, but is adjacent to certain
land acquired under the said Act, and known as the Rosewill Settle-
ment and can conveniently be disposed of therewith :

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril
Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by section one hundred and five of the said Act,
and on the recommendation of the Land Settlement Board, and after
considering the report of the Canterbury District Land Board, do
hereby declare the said land to be subject to the said Act, to the
intent that it shall hereupon be deemed to be portion of the said
Rosewill Settlement and may be disposed of accordingly.

SCHEDULE

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

All that parcel of land containing 38 acres 3 roods 32 perches, more or
less, being Rural Section 37492, formerly part Rural Sections 18557,
18689, 18929, 19077, and 19511, situated in Block XI, Pareora Survey
District. As the same is more particularly delineated in the plan
marked L. and S. 19295A, deposited in the Head Office, Department
of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 20th day of July, 1948.

Revocation of Delegation by the Chief of the Air Staff of Authority
for the Convening of General Courts-martial

To Group Captain Trevor Watts White, C.B.E., E.D.,
Royal New Zealand Air Force.

Whereas I was empowered by Warrant of His Excellency
the Governor-General bearing date the 16th July, 1945,
to direct my Warrant to any officer of the Air Force not under
the rank of Squadron Leader, giving him a general authority to
convene general courts-martial for the trial of any person who
is subject to the Air Force Act, 1937, and the regulations made
thereunder, and also to exercise (subject to the provisions of the
said Warrant) in respect of the proceedings of such courts-martial
the power of confirming the findings or sentences thereof according
to law, or of directing him to reserve for my confirmation the
proceedings of all or any such courts-martial :
