Appointment of Officer for the Purposes of the Food and Drugs Act, 1947

PURSUANT to the Food and Drugs Act, 1947, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint William George Lamason to be an officer for the purposes of the Food and Drugs Act, 1947.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of July, 1948.

REGULAR FORCE The Royal N.Z. Artillery Lieutenant (temp. Captain) R. H. F. Holloway to be Captain. Dated 29th June, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps Temp. Lieutenant-Colonel (on prob.) C. L. Pleasants, D.S.O., M.C., E.D., to be Lieutenant-Colonel (on prob.), with seniority from 7th February, 1947. Dated 23rd June, 1948.
N.Z. Regiment Temp. Major E. G. Spraggon, from the N.Z. Temporary Staff, is granted a short-service commission for a period of three years as from 1st April, 1948, in the rank of Major, with seniority from 9th February, 1946. Dated 1st April, 1948. Temp. Captain (on prob.) J. S. Baker, M.C., to be Captain (on prob.), with seniority from 23rd May, 1948, next below Captain Y. K. Fleming, D.S.O., N.Z. Regiment. Dated 23rd June, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Army Service Corps Captain (temp. Major) W. E. Colton relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Director of Supplies and Transport, Army Headquarters, dated 30th June, 1948, is appointed Director of Supplies and Transport, Army Headquarters, and is granted the brevet rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, dated 1st July, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps Temp. Major (on prob.) P. H. M. Galbraith relinquishes his commission. Dated 30th June, 1948. Lieutenant (temp. Captain) O. H. Burn to be Captain. Dated 1st June, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Lieutenant (temp. Captain) B. A. McConnel, A.M.I.Mech.E., to be Captain. Dated 28th May, 1948. Temp. Major (on prob.) T. L. Claeher to be Captain (on prob.), with seniority from 28th May, 1948, next below Captain B. A. McConnel, The Royal N.Z. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Dated 23rd June, 1948. Lieutenant and Quartermaster H. E. Wright to be Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 1st July, 1948. Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp. Captain and Quartermaster) R. I. Bolton to be Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 12th July, 1948.
N.Z. Army Nursing Service Sister M. E. Ryan, from the Retired List, is granted a short-service commission for a period of six months as from 12th July, 1948, in the rank of Sister, with seniority from 22nd May, 1946, is seconded for duty at the Naval Base Hospital, Devonport, and is granted the temporary rank of Charge Sister whilst so employed. Dated 12th July, 1948.
Supernumerary List, N.Z. Regular Force Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) F. G. M. Jenkins, D.C.M., relinquishes the appointment of Director of Supplies and Transport, Army Headquarters. Dated 30th June, 1948. Temp. Major E. J. C. Finney, from the N.Z. Temporary Staff, is granted a short-service commission as from 1st April, 1948, in the rank of Major, with seniority from 13th June, 1945. Dated 1st April, 1948.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF Temp. Captain J. R. Wilkinson relinquishes his commission on appointment to the N.Z. Regular Force in the ranks. Dated 31st March, 1948.
TERRITORIAL FORCE The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own) Rex Drummond Macpherson to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the St. Stephen's College Cadets, Area 1. Dated 22nd March, 1948. Thomas Walter Ryan to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the Pukekohe Technical High School Cadets, Area 1. Dated 28th April, 1948. Patrick Thomas Francis Tuite to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the Sacred Heart College Cadets, Area 1. Dated 7th May, 1948.
The North Auckland Regiment Athol Ernest Johnson to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the Okaihau District High School Cadets, Area 3. Dated 1st April, 1948.
The Hawke's Bay Regiment Brian Gerard O'Connor to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the Waipawa District High School Cadets, Area 7. Dated 31st March, 1948.
The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment John James Henderson to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the Hokitika District High School Cadets, Area 9. Dated 5th May, 1948.
SCHOOL CADET UNITS Palmerston North Boys' High School Cadets, Area 6 Temp. Lieutenant G. E. Wilson, M.C., to be temp. Captain. Dated 19th December, 1947.
RESERVE OF OFFICERS The Royal N.Z. Chaplains Department The Rev. T. W. Edwards, Chaplain, 4th Class (Church of England), is posted to the Retired List. Dated 5th July, 1948.
OFFICER CEASING TO BE SECONDED TO THE 2ND NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE Captain (Acting-Major) G. Johns, Royal N.Z. Engineers, and is reposted to the Territorial Force with the temporary rank of Captain, with seniority from 30th April, 1946. Dated 20th May, 1948.
OFFICERS STRUCK OFF THE STRENGTH OF THE 2ND NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE Lieutenant I. J. Thomson, and is posted to the non-mobilized strength of the 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own), with the temporary rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 30th July, 1947. Dated 29th June, 1948. 2nd Lieutenant J. Pearson, and is posted to the Retired List. Dated 5th July, 1948.
