Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Auckland for Housing Purposes

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for housing purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Wellesley Street, Auckland, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken : 12.5 perches. Being part Allotment 65, Section 28, Town of Auckland.

Situated in Block XVI, Waitemata Survey District (City of Auckland).

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 125786, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged blue.

Hauraki Plains Drainage District.-Penalty on Overdue Rates

Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, 16th January, 1948.

IN pursuance of section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, and the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent. additional will be added to all rates for the year ending 31st March, 1948, unpaid on 28th January, 1948.

Rates may be paid at any money-order office, or to the Collector of Rates, Lands and Survey Department, P.O. Box 2205, Auckland C. 1.

Claim for Registration of School Colours

THE following claim for the registration of school colours has been made in accordance with the regulations published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 12th August, 1915, and amendments thereto.

The claim will be registered unless objection is received by me within forty days of the publication thereof.

KAIKOHE AGRICULTURAL AND TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL

Colours: Navy blue, crimson, and gold.

The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1947.-Income-tax payable

IN accordance with Order in Council dated 22nd October, 1947, issued under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and the Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1947, I hereby notify that the income-tax leviable under section 3 of the latter Act is payable at any office of the Land and Income Tax Department or at any money-order post-office in one sum on Wednesday, the 11th February, 1948, and that 5 per cent. additional tax accrues if not paid by 3rd March, 1948. Liability is not suspended by any objection, and tax must be paid by the prescribed date to avoid the additional percentage ; any overpayment will be refunded.

Demands will be issued on or about 4th February, 1948, and must be presented with all payments. Taxpayers who do not receive an expected demand should communicate with the Superintendent of the office of the Land and Income Tax Department where his records are filed.

Previous Notice : No. 8 of 1946 is hereby cancelled. Position : Bean Rocks Lighthouse : Lat., 36° 50' S.; long., 174° 50' E. (approx.). Details : The red lighted buoy in a position 276° 4,200 ft. and the black lighted buoy in a position 252° 2,740 ft. from the above lighthouse have been permanently removed.

Notice to Mariners No. 2 of 1948

Marine Department, Wellington, N.Z., 27th December, 1947.

W/T WEATHER BROADCAST FOR SHIPPING

Details : With effect from 1st January, 1948, the 415 kc/s. frequency channel will be omitted during the broadcast of Part II of the 0900 G.M.T. Weather Broadcast for Shipping. There will be no alteration in the remaining frequencies in use.

Thus, Part I will be broadcast on the four frequencies - ZLW/415 kc/s. (722-9 m.), ZLW/5915 kc/s. (50-7 m), ZLW/11130 kc/s. (26-7 m.), ZLW/14850 kc/s. (20-2 m.), and Part II will be broadcast on the three high frequencies only - ZLW/5915 kc/s. (50-7 m.), ZLW/11130 kc/s. (26-7 m.), ZLW/14850 kc/s. (20-2 m.).

NEW ZEALAND.-NORTH ISLAND Less Depth reported North-east of Cape Palliser

Position : Lat., 41° 34'-6 S.; long., 175° 29'-9 E. (approx.). Details : The master of the m.v. “Komata” reports obtaining a depth of 10 fathoms in a positon 096° 2-8 miles from Te Kaukau. Masters are warned to avoid this locality until an examination has been made.

NEW ZEALAND.-SOUTH ISLAND.-OKURI POINT Alteration in Position and Characteristics of Light

Position : Lat., 40° 58'-5 S.; long., 173° 45'-9 E. (approx.). Details : The light on Okuri Point, which has been completely electrified, is now 091° 49 ft. from its charted position. The elevation has been increased to 100 ft. and visibility to 10 miles.

Abridged description : Fl. W.R. 34 sec. 100 ft. 10 M. (U.). Charts affected : Nos. 1096, 2684.
