In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Health Act, 1920, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
Percy Vernon Esmond Stainton, Esquire,
to be a member of the Board of Health for a period of three years as from the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-eight.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 26th day of June, 1948.

TEMPORARY RANK RELINQUISHED
Captain (temp. Major) R. Stanley-Harris, R.N.Z. Inf., relinquishes the temporary rank of Major and assumes the acting rank of Major on being placed on N.Z. Roll. Dated 12th July, 1948.

The Royal N.Z. Engineers
Temp. Captain J. J. L. Casey, from the N.Z. Temporary Staff, is granted a short-service commission for a period of three years as from 1st April, 1948, in the rank of Captain, with seniority from 17th June, 1946. Dated 1st April, 1948.
Temp. Lieutenant A. C. Hurdsfield, from the N.Z. Temporary Staff, is granted a short-service commission for a period of one year as from 1st April, 1948, in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 31st March, 1945. Dated 1st April, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Corps of Signals
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. W. Fitchett to be Captain. Dated 29th June, 1948.
N.Z. Regiment
Lieutenant-Colonel D. T. Maxwell, O.B.E., is granted the rank of Brevet Colonel. Dated 13th June, 1948.
Ewen Cardale, Esq., M.Sc., is granted a short-service commission for a period of three years as from 24th June, 1948, in the rank of Captain, with seniority from 24th June, 1948, and is appointed Education Officer, Central Military District. Dated 24th June, 1948.
Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp. Captain and Quartermaster) G. H. Martin relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 30th April, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Army Service Corps
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) R. W. K. Ainge to be Captain. Dated 29th June, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps
Temp. Captain E. C. Green, M.B.E., from the N.Z. Temporary Staff, is granted a short-service commission for a period of one year as from 1st April, 1948, in the rank of Captain, with seniority from 3rd February, 1947. Dated 1st April, 1948.

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) V. G. Jervis, O.B.E., relinquishes the appointments of Acting Adjutant-General, Army Headquarters, and Acting Second Military Member of the Army Board on the return from overseas of Brigadier K. L. Stewart, C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O. Dated 28th June, 1948.
Lieutenant and Quartermaster R. A. Murie is posted to the Retired List. Dated 25th June, 1948.
