PALMERSTON NORTH CITY COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Takaro Drainage Loan, 1947, £10,700

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Palmerston North City Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £10,700, authorized to be raised by the Palmerston North City Council under the above-mentioned Act, for drainage works and sewerage works in the north-western portion of the city known as Takaro Park and Burns Avenue (Lyndhurst Street Area), in accordance with requisition of the Board of Health, the Palmerston North City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-tenth of a penny (¹⁄₁₀d.) in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property (on the basis of the unimproved value) in the City of Palmerston North; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and shall be payable yearly on the 1st day of July during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty (20) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

Omnibus Purchase Loan, 1946, £10,000

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Palmerston North City Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £10,000, authorized to be raised by the Palmerston North City Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of purchasing additional motor-omnibuses for the City Passenger Transport Department, the Palmerston North City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-fifth of a penny (¹⁄₅d.) in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property (on the basis of the unimproved value) in the City of Palmerston North; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and shall be payable yearly on the 1st day of July during the currency of such loan, being a period of seven (7) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

Gasworks Loan, 1946, £5,000

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Palmerston North City Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £5,000, authorized to be raised by the Palmerston North City Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purchasing and installing of a water gas plant, pan ash separator, and jib crane, the Palmerston North City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one twenty-fifth of a penny (¹⁄₂₅d.) in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property (on the basis of the unimproved value) in the City of Palmerston North; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and shall be payable yearly on the 1st day of July during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five (25) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE AS SECURITY FOR TRANSPORT AND STREETS RECONSTRUCTION LOAN, 1946, £858,000

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Dunedin City Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £858,000, authorized to be raised by the Dunedin City Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purposes of (a) replacing the whole of the existing city electric and cable transport systems with an electric trolley-bus system, £700,000; (b) paving tramway track areas and reconstructing streets on the trolley-bus routes, £72,000; and (c) widening and regrading Albert Street, £86,000, the said Dunedin City Council hereby makes and levies the following special rates—viz., in respect of £700,000, a special rate of eightpence three farthings (8³⁄₄d.) in the pound (£), in respect of £72,000, a special rate of seven-eighths of a penny (⁷⁄₈d.) in the pound (£), and in respect of £86,000, a special rate of one penny (1d.) in the pound (£)—all of such special rates to be upon the rateable value (on the basis of the annual value) of all rateable property of the City of Dunedin, comprising the whole of the said city; and that such special rates shall be annually recurring rates during the currency of the whole loan of £858,000, and be payable yearly on the first (1st) day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty (20) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

I hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of the resolution passed by the Dunedin City Council on Monday, 17th May, 1948.

NOTICE OF DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP

NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership heretofore subsisting between WALTER WADDELL and REGINALD JOSIAH KATTERNS, carrying on business as Bakers at No. 1 Gladstone Road, Mount Albert, Auckland, under the style or firm of “Gladstone Bakery,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the 1st day of December, 1947.
