The Standards Act, 1941.—Notice of Appointment of Members of the Standards Council
NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to section 3 of the Standards Act, 1941, the persons whose names are set out in the first column hereunder have been appointed by the Minister of Industries and Commerce as members of the Standards Council to hold office until 31st January, 1949, in lieu of the persons named in the second column hereunder, who have resigned their offices :—

NOTICE is hereby given that His Excellency the Governor-General in Council has—
(a) Pursuant to the provisions of subsection (2) of section 17 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, appointed Clarence Bertram Idle, of Sumner, Farmer, to be a member of the Canterbury Rural Land Sales Committee, vice William Osborne Rennie, resigned, and
(b) Pursuant to the provisions of subsection (3) (a) of section 17 aforesaid, appointed Bob Sherburd Robertson, a member of the Canterbury Rural Land Sales Committee, to be the Deputy Chairman of that Committee.

Approval of Flags for the Territory of Western Samoa
IT is notified for public information that the Government of New Zealand, in its capacity of Administering Authority of the Territory of Western Samoa, has approved as the flags of Western Samoa for general use on shore within Western Samoa, first the New Zealand Ensign, and secondly the flag described in the Schedule hereto, the two flags to be flown in conjunction with each other, and when so flown to be of equal dimensions and to display the same shades of blue and red.
SCHEDULE
RED, the first quarter blue and bearing four white five-pointed stars representing the Southern Cross, the size and disposition of the stars being as follows :—

In this prescription the hoist of the flag from top to bottom is regarded as one hundred and forty-four units.

Each star has its uppermost point on a vertical line through its centre.

Two of the stars are disposed with their centres on a vertical line bisecting the blue quarter. The top point of the upper star and the bottom point of the bottom star are distant three units from the upper and lower edges of the blue quarter respectively.

The star nearest the staff has its top point distant twenty-one units from the upper edge of the flag and its nearest points distant forty-two units from the edge nearest the staff.

The star nearest the fly has its top point distant eighteen units from the upper edge of the flag and its nearest points distant twenty-two units from the fly edge of the blue quarter.

The star nearest the fly edge measures fifteen units, the uppermost star and the star nearest the staff measure sixteen units and the lowest star measures twenty units, measured between opposite points.
A drawing of the flag as hereinbefore described is deposited in the office of the Department of Island Territories at Wellington, marked I.T. 69/52, and a copy of the drawing is published herewith.

Taueki Consolidation Scheme confirmed
In the matter of section 161 of the Maori Land Act, 1931, and in the matter of an application to the Maori Land Court to prepare a scheme of consolidation in respect of Horowhenua XIB 42A 3B and other blocks.
NOTICE is hereby given that a scheme of consolidation, dealing with the subdivisions of Horowhenua XIB and other blocks within the Ikaroa Maori Land Court District, having been prepared by the Maori Land Court in accordance with the said Act and submitted under the seal of the said Court to the Minister of Maori Affairs for his approval, I, Peter Fraser, Minister of Maori Affairs, being satisfied that the scheme so submitted is just and equitable and is in the public interest, do hereby confirm the said scheme of consolidation so submitted.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block V, Mount Robinson Survey District, for Road
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Foxton and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :
2 acres 3 roods.
Being part Lot 1, D.P. 3002, and being part Rural Section 427, Town of Foxton, and part Block II, Manawatu District.
Situated in Block V, Mount Robinson Survey District.
In the Wellington Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 127203, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for road : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Otaki and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.
