Appointments to the Public Service

THE Public Service Commission has made the following appointments in the Public Service:

Herbert George Whyte
to be Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates' Court at Auckland for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 26th day of April, 1948.

Frederick Charles Buckland Boyes
to be Commissioner of Labour, Samoan Public Trustee, Registrar of Land, and Official Assignee in pursuance of section 9 of the Samoan Act, 1921, as amended by section 19 of the Finance Act (No. 2), 1931, on and from the 17th day of February, 1948.

Hector McKechnie
to be Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates' Court at Lower Hutt for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 3rd day of May, 1948.

Leonard Alan Zorn
to be an Officer for the purposes of Part I of the Fisheries Act, 1908, on and from the 1st day of April, 1948.

Harold George Jamieson
to be Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Patea for the purposes of the Electoral Act, 1927, and its amendments, and Returning Officer for the Patea Licensing District for the purposes of the Licensing Act, 1908, and its amendments, on and from the 2nd day of April, 1948.

The Lemon Marketing Regulations 1940.-Notice fixing Prices of certain Grades

Wellington, 30th April, 1948.

PURSUANT to Regulation 5 : I of the Lemon Marketing Regulations 1940, I hereby fix the following prices per loose bushel to be paid by the Marketing Department for lemons delivered to the Department during the undermentioned period.

Period of delivery (both days inclusive) 1st May to 31st May, 1948:-

Loose packed fresh lemons, Preferred Commercial grade .. 11 2
Loose packed fresh lemons, Commercial Grade .. 9 8
Loose packed fresh lemons, First-grade Peel .. 5 6
Loose packed fresh lemons, Second-grade Peel .. 4 0
Loose packed fresh lemons, Juice Grade .. 2 0

Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Auckland for Better Utilization

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and section 30 of the Finance Act (No. 2), 1945, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for better utilization: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Auckland and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 6·8 perches.

Being part Allotment 13, Section 30, City of Auckland.

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 127149, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Agreement for Grant of Right-of-way in favour of Marion Hope Hesketh, Spinster, and Henry Rossall Hesketh, Solicitor, both of Auckland, over Land in Block VIII, Rangitoto Survey District, taken for Buildings of the General Government, assented to

WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the 20th day of August, 1947, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No 47 of the 28th day of the same month, at page 1035, areas of land totalling l acre l rood 35·09 perches, being Lots 11 and 8 and part Lot 7, D.P. 30978, being portion Allotment 30, Section 6, Suburbs of Auckland, Block VIII, Rangitoto Survey District, were taken for buildings of the General Government:

And whereas at the date such Proclamation took effect Marion Hope Hesketh, Spinster, and Henry Rossall Hesketh, Solicitor, both of Auckland, were the registered proprietors of the said Lots 8 and 11 containing l acre l rood 33·54 perches;

And whereas the said Marion Hope Hesketh and Henry Rossall Hesketh are entitled to compensation for their freehold interest in the said area of l acre l rood 33·54 perches :

And whereas by an agreement dated the 6th day of December, 1944, the Minister of Works agreed to grant to the said Marion Hope Hesketh and Henry Rossall Hesketh a right-of-way over portion of the said Lot 11 in part satisfaction of the compensation aforesaid, and to provide a sum of money in satisfaction of the residue of the said compensation:

And whereas the said Marion Hope Hesketh and the said Henry Rossall Hesketh have agreed to accept such grant of the right-of-way and sum of money in satisfaction of the said compensation:

Now, therefore, the Minister of Works hereby gives notice in pursuance of section 97 of the Public Works Act, 1928, that he assents to the agreement hereinbefore referred to.

Agreement for Grant of a Drainage Easement in favour of David Henry Marshall, of Auckland, Accountant, over Land in Block VIII, Rangitoto Survey District, taken for Buildings of the General Government, assented to

WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the 20th day of August, 1947, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No 47 of the 28th day of the same month, at page 1035, inter alia, an area of 1·55 perches, being part Lot 7, D.P. 30978, being portion of Allotment 30, Section 6, Suburbs of Auckland, Block VIII, Rangitoto Survey District, was taken for buildings of the General Government;

And whereas at the date such Proclamation took effect David Henry Marshall, of Auckland, Accountant, was the registered proprietor of the said area of land:

And whereas the said David Henry Marshall is entitled to compensation for his freehold interest in the said area of land:

And whereas by an agreement completed on the 8th day of March, 1945, the Minister of Works agreed, inter alia, to grant to the said David Henry Marshall a drainage easement over part Lot 11, D.P. 30978:

And whereas the said David Henry Marshall has agreed to accept such drainage easement in part satisfaction of the said compensation:

Now, therefore, the Minister of Works hereby gives notice in pursuance of section 97 of the Public Works Act, 1928, that he assents to the agreement hereinbefore referred to.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943-Notice of Intention to take Land

THE Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby gives notice of his intention to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act, and specifies the Ist day of June, 1949, as the date on which possession of the lands is required, and the 14th day of June, 1948, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.

SCHEDULE
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

All that parcel of land situated in Block I, Maungakawa Survey District, containing by admeasurement four hundred and forty-two (442) acres two (2) roods eight (8) perches, more or less, being Lot 1, Deposited Plan 8137, being part of Hangawera Block, and part of Section 1, Block I, Maungakawa Survey District, and being all of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 253, folio 55 (Auckland Registry).

Also all that parcel of land containing by admeasurement seventy-five (75) acres one (l) rood twenty-five (25) perches, more or less, being Lot 2 on Deposited Plan 11016, being part of Section 1, Block I, Maungakawa Survey District, and being all of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 253, folio 57 (Auckland Registry).
