NOTICE OF DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP

NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership heretofore subsisting between the undersigned, WILLIAM JAMES NAIRN and LEONARD JOHN BEATTIE JOINES and MARGARET WYLIE JOINES, carrying on business as farmers at Lakeside under the style or firm of “Nairn and Joines,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the 31st day of March, 1948.

All debts due to and owing by the said late firm will be received and paid by the said WILLIAM JAMES NAIRN, who will continue to carry on the said business on his own account.

NOTICE OF CHANGE OF NAME

I, THOMAS TAIHOA HUGHES, of Auckland, Tram-conductor, heretofore called or known by the name of THOMAS TAIHOA AHURIRI, hereby give public notice that by deed-poll dated the 15th day of December, 1947, and enrolled in the office of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Auckland on the 7th day of April, 1948, under No. M. 113/48, I formally and absolutely renounce and abandon the said surname of AHURIRI and assume and adopt the said surname of HUGHES.

POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Workers’ Dwelling Loan, 1944, Instalment No. 1 of £1,500

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Pohangina County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of the half-yearly instalments of principal and interest in respect of the Workers’ Dwelling Loan, 1944, Instalment No. 1 of £1,500, authorized to be raised by the Pohangina County Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purchasing of a workers’ dwelling and affecting additions and alterations thereto, and/or the erection of workers’ dwellings, the said Pohangina County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-fiftieth of a penny (1/50d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in the County of Pohangina; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of March and the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

I certify the foregoing to be a true copy of a resolution passed at a meeting of the Pohangina County Council held on 11th December, 1947.

THE EGMONT LIME COMPANY, LIMITED

IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION

THE following extraordinary resolution was passed on 14th April, 1948:—

“(1) That the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up, and that the company be wound up voluntarily;

“(2) That, in pursuance of section 235 of the Companies Act, 1933, Mr. GEOFFREY JOHN BROKER, of Patea, Public Accountant, be and he is hereby nominated as liquidator of the company.”

EDUCATION BOARD OF THE DISTRICT OF AUCKLAND

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS ACT, 1928

NOTICE is hereby given that the Education Board of the District of Auckland intends to take, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, for a public school the following additional land, viz.: All that piece of land situated in the Provincial District of Auckland containing one acre one rood decimal seven perches (1 acre 1 rood 0·7 perches), more or less, being part of Sections 35 and 36 of Block XVI, Kawakawa Survey District, which said piece of land is part of the land comprised and described in the Provisional Register, Vol. 193, folio 148, of the Land Registry Office at Auckland.

A plan of the land is deposited in the post-office at Kawakawa, and is there open for inspection by all persons at all reasonable hours.

All persons affected are hereby required and called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, and to send such writing, within forty (40) days from the first publication of this notice, to the Education Board of the District of Auckland at its office in Wellesley Street East, Auckland.

Notice of Meeting of Creditors

NOTICE is hereby given that a meeting of British Chemicals, Limited, will be held on Monday, the 26th day of April, 1948, at which a resolution for voluntary winding-up is to be proposed; and that a meeting of the creditors of the said company will be held, pursuant to section 234 of the Companies Act, 1933, in the Chamber of Commerce Board Room, Dowling Street, Dunedin, on Monday, the 26th day of April, 1948, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at which meeting a full statement of the position of the company’s affairs, together with a list of the creditors and the estimated amount of their claims, will be laid before the meeting, and at which meeting the creditors, in pursuance of section 235 of the said Act, may nominate a person to be the liquidator of the company, and, in pursuance of section 236 of the said Act, may appoint a committee of inspection.

AKA AKA DRAINAGE BOARD

RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING SPECIAL RATE

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Aka Aka Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest and other charges on the sum of four thousand pounds (£4,000), authorized to be raised by the Aka Aka Drainage Board under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of purchasing machinery, the Aka Aka Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of eight-tenths of one penny (8/10d.) in the pound (£) on land classed ‘A’ seven-tenths of one penny (7/10d.) in the pound (£) on land classed ‘B,’ and six-tenths of a penny (6/10d.) in the pound (£) on land classed ‘C’ upon the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property within the Aka Aka Drainage Board Area; and that such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of eight years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

WAIMEA ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE: £1,750 LOAN

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Waimea Electric-power Board hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of one thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds (£1,750), authorized to be raised by the Waimea Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of redeeming at maturity the outstanding liability in respect of the Motueka District Supply and Reticulation Loan, 1937, of £3,000, the said Waimea Electric-power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-eighteenth of a penny (1/18d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in that part of the Board’s district, comprising all that area of land in the Land District of Nelson, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the point of intersection of high-water mark of
