November, 1947
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to section one hundred and sixty-seven of the
Native Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
doeth hereby vary an Order in Council made on the fourth day of
April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and published in
the Gazette on the seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred
and thirty-two, at page 735, and affecting Hauturu East B 2
Section 2a la and other blocks by excluding therefrom the lands
described in the Schedule hereto.

Pursuant to section four hundred and forty-two of the Native
Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
doeth hereby vary an Order in Council made on the twentieth day
of May, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and published
in the Gazette on the twenty-sixth day of May, one thousand nine
hundred and thirty-two, at page 1335, and affecting Rotomahana-
Parekarangi lc 2 and other blocks, by excluding therefrom the land
described in the Schedule hereto.

doeth hereby vary an Order in Council made on the twenty-first day
of November, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and
published in the Gazette on the twenty-fourth day of November,
one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, at page 2452, and

The Government Railways (Staff) Amending Regulations 1947

November, 1947

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to the Government Railways Act, 1926, His
Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make
the following regulations.
REGULATIONS
- These regulations may be cited as the Government Railways
(Staff) Amending Regulations 1947 (No. 2), and shall be read
together with and form part of the regulations made under the
Government Railways Act, 1908, on the 12th day of June, 1922,
and published in the Gazette on the 15th day of the same month
at page 1583, as the same are enuring under the Government Rail-
ways Act, 1926 (hereinafter called the principal regulations). - Regulation 16 of the principal regulations, as heretofore
amended, is revoked, and the following regulation substituted:-
"16. (1) Subject to clauses (2), (3), (4), and (5) of this regula-
tion, no candidate for employment shall be engaged as a probationer
in any occupation if his age at the date of his engagement is less
than the minimum or more than the maximum for such occupation
as specified hereunder:--

- In the case of any candidate who has passed the University Entrance
Examination or the School Certificate Examination or who holds higher educa-
tional qualifications, the maximum age may be extended to twenty years last
birthday at date of engagement.
† In special circumstances the maximum age last birthday at date of
engagement may be extended by the General Manager at his discretion.
‡ Preference may be given to any candidate who has not passed his twentieth
birthday at date of engagement.
§ Preference may be given to any candidate who has not passed his thirty-
fifth birthday at date of engagement.
"(2) Where any candidate for engagement has had previous
experience as a member in the branch of the Department to which
he makes application for appointment, the maximum age at date
of engagement may be extended by the General Manager at his
discretion.
"(3) In the case of any candidate who has had any continuous
period of service in a temporary capacity immediately precedent
to the date of his engagement as a probationer, his age at the com-
mencement of such temporary service may, at the discretion of the
General Manager, be accepted for the purpose of this regulation in
lieu of his age at the date of his engagement as a probationer.
"(4) If there is no suitable candidate within the specified
age-limits, the General Manager may appoint any candidate who
is suitable and otherwise eligible for engagement as a probationer.
"(5) In the case of any candidate who is a discharged service-
man within the meaning of Part I of the Rehabilitation Act, 1941,
and whose application for employment in the Department is made
within a period of one year from the date he lawfully ceased to
serve as a serviceman, the maximum age at date of engagement as
prescribed by clause (1) of this regulation may be extended by the
General Manager at his discretion."
- The regulations made by Order in Council dated the 12th
day of September, 1945, amending the principal regulations, and
published in the Gazette on the 20th day of the same month at
page 1162 are hereby revoked.
