Exempting Crown Land from the Provisions of the Mining Act, 1926

WHEREAS by section twenty of the Mining Act, 1926, it is,
inter alia, enacted that the Governor-General may from
time to time by notice in the New Zealand Gazette, exempt any
Crown lands from mining, or from any specified mining purpose,
or from that Act, or any specified provisions of that Act, and that
the lands to which any such notice relates shall be specified therein
by words of particular description :
And whereas it is desirable that the Crown land specified in
the Schedule hereto should be exempted from the provisions of the
Mining Act, 1926, and its amendments :
Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Frey-
berg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on
me by section twenty of the Mining Act, 1926, and of all other
powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do
hereby exempt the land particularly described in the Schedule
hereto from the provisions of the Mining Act, 1926, and do also
hereby declare that such exemption shall take effect from the date
of the publication of this notice in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of Crown land in the Karamea Mining District, con-
taining by admeasurement 4·3 perches, more or less, being part of
Section 198 in the Township of Millerton. As the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked Mines 6/120, deposited
in the Head Office of the Mines Department at Wellington, and
thereon coloured red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 30th day of September, 1947.

Authorizing Erection of a Public Hall on Tapu Flat Domain, Auckland
Land District

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred
upon me by subsection one (d) of section fifty-two of the Public
Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, I, Lieutenant-
General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the Tapu Flat
Domain Board to erect a public hall on that portion of the Tapu
Flat Domain under its control described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Thames County, containing by admeasurement
1 rood and 15 perches, more or less, being part of Section 54, Block XI,
Hastings Survey District. As the same is more particularly de-
lineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/900B, deposited in the
Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and
thereon edged red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 6th day of October, 1947.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
confirm the following appointment, promotions, and relin-
quishments of temporary rank of officers of the 2nd New Zealand
Expeditionary Force (Japan Section), vide Lists Nos. 66, dated
2nd September, 1947, 67, dated 9th September, 1947; and 68,
dated 17th September, 1947 :—
TEMPORARY RANK RELINQUISHED
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) R. B. McQueen, R.N.Z. Inf.,
relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and assumes
the acting rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on being placed on N.Z. Roll.
