SEPT. 11] THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE
Land permanently reserved in the Wellington Land District for Recreation Purposes
B. C. FREYBERG, Governor-General WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral licence, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
And whereas by the three-hundred-and-sixtieth section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section may, at the expiration of one month but not later than six months, after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette;
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was, by the Warrant dated the fourth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, and published in the Gazette of the tenth day of that month, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Act for recreation purposes:
Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the land described in the Schedule hereto for recreation purposes for which purpose the said land was so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.
SCHEDULE WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT SECTION 1, Block IX, Belmont Survey District : Area, 29 acres and 21·5 perches, more or less.

ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp. Captain and Quartermaster) E. L. George to be Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 23rd August, 1947. N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF Temp. Lieutenant H. D. Thomson is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 7th September, 1947. TERRITORIAL FORCE THE ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY CORPS The Wellington West Coast Regiment Allerton Donald Brooker to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the Marton District High School Cadets, Area 6. Dated 29th August, 1947. N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE Temp. Matron-in-Chief E. C. Mackay, O.B.E., R.R.C., ceases to be seconded to the N.Z. Temporary Staff. Dated 1st September, 1947. SCHOOL CADETS UNITS Cambridge District High School Cadets, Area 4 2nd Lieutenant J. H. Yolland to be temp. Lieutenant. Dated 1st August, 1947. RESERVE OF OFFICERS Supplementary List Sister (temp. Charge Sister) H. A. Livingston is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Charge Sister. Dated 29th August, 1947. OFFICER CEASING TO BE SECONDED TO THE 2ND NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE Major R. K. Logan, B.D.S., The Royal N.Z. Army Dental Corps, and is reposted to the Territorial Force with the temporary rank of Major, with seniority from 1st September, 1946. Dated 22nd June, 1947. OFFICERS STRUCK OFF THE STRENGTH OF THE 2ND NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE Major L. E. Stewart, and is reposted to the N.Z. Regular Force. Dated 21st August, 1947. 2nd Lieutenant G. J. Kippenberger, and is posted to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 31st August, 1947.
2ND N.Z. EXPEDITIONARY FORCE (JAPAN SECTION) APPOINTMENTS (TEMPORARY) The undermentioned is reposted to the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force :— Major M. Searancke. Dated 16th August, 1947. The undermentioned is seconded to the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force :— Lieutenant and Quartermaster R. W. Ryan, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 18th August, 1947.

(Acting Wing Commander) William Hector STRATTON, D.F.C., relinquishes his temporary commission and is granted a permanent commission in his present rank and seniority. Dated 1st April, 1947. (Acting Flight Lieutenant) John Leslie Scott, D.F.C., relinquishes his temporary commission and is granted a short-service commission in his present rank and seniority. Dated 1st April, 1947.
