DEFINITION OF METROPOLITAN AREAS

Name of Metropolitan Area. Districts included therein.
Auckland .. The City of Auckland, the boroughs of Birkenhead, Devonport, Ellerslie, Mount Albert, Mount Eden, New Lynn, Newmarket, Northcote, Onehunga, One Tree Hill, Otahuhu, and Takapuna, and the road districts of Mount Roskill, Mount Wellington, and Panmure Township.
Wellington .. The cities of Wellington and Lower Hutt, the boroughs of Eastbourne and Petone, and the Town District of Johnsonville.
Christchurch .. The City of Christchurch and the Borough of Riccarton.
Dunedin .. The City of Dunedin and the boroughs of Green Island, Port Chalmers, St. Kilda, and West Harbour.

PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order :—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 755, and shall come into force on the 1st day of September, 1947.
  2. (1) Price Orders No. 86† and No. 603‡ are hereby revoked.
    (2) The revocation of the said Orders shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this Order.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER

  1. This Order applies only with respect to boot polish and stain manufactured by the Kiwi Polish Co. of New Zealand, Limited.

FIXING MAXIMUM PRICES OF BOOT POLISH AND STAIN TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES

  1. The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any boot polish or stain to which this Order applies shall be—

For boot polish (medium tin) .. .. 8½d. per tin.
For stain (medium tin) .. .. 8½d. per tin.

Notice to Mariners No. 31 of 1947

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—OTAGO HARBOUR
Power Cable.—Prohibited Anchorage.—Beacons and Light established
Position: Observation Point △. Lat., 45° 48′ 56″·8 S.; long., 170° 37′ 36″·7 E.
Details: A 6,000 volt cable has been laid across the harbour as follows: Starting from a position 188° 860 ft. from the trig. it follows a 138° direction for about 450 ft.; thence about 174° for 250 ft.; thence 138° to a position on Portobello Peninsula 145° 5,800 ft. from the trig.
Two beacons, in line 318°, mark the line of cable from the front beacon to the peninsula. The rear beacon, situated 193° 950 ft. from the trig., is rectangular and painted black and white horizontal stripes. The front beacon, situated 174° 1,320 ft. from the trig., is a double-pile structure similarly painted and exhibits a fixed red light.
Anchorage is prohibited within an area enclosed by a line extending 134° from the trig. to Quarantine Point; thence 265° from the western extremity of the peninsula to the eastern extremity of Quarantine Island; thence 314° to the shore.
The red pile shown on the chart close to the front beacon has been removed.

St. Anne Point Light
Position: Lat., 44° 34′ ·5 S.; long., 167° 47′ E. (approx.).
Details: The light has been temporarily discontinued for overhaul. Further notice will be given when the light is restored.

Notice to Mariners No. 33 of 1947

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—AUCKLAND HARBOUR
Alterations—Stanley Bay
(1) New Wharf—Lights established
Position: Inner end of wharf—lat., 36° 49′ 37″·9 S.; long., 174° 46′ 56″·7 E.; 145° 440 ft. from eastern side of inner end of existing wharf (high-water mark).
Abridged Description: 2 F.R. vertl.
Details: A new ferry wharf has been erected in Stanley Bay from an embankment not shown on the chart. The embankment trends about 114° 330 ft. to the eastward and, close westward of the wharf, curves sharply to the shore. The wharf, 30 ft. wide, extends in a 205° direction from the above position for 200 ft. Two fixed red lights, vertically disposed, are exhibited from the outer end of the wharf.

(2) Pile Beacon—Light—Fog-signal established
Position: Lat., 36° 49′ 44″·5 S.; long., 174° 46′ 53″·0 E.; 204° 712 ft. from position in (1).
Abridged Description: F1. R. 10 sec. Fog siren.
Details: A three-pile beacon marking the approach to the wharf has been erected in the above position and carries a flashing red light, 10 secs. flash 3 secs. and a fog-siren sounding a 3 secs. blast every 10 secs.

(3) The existing ferry jetty is being removed. During demolition the outer corners will be marked by fixed white lights.

Light to be restored
Position: Lat., 35° 54′ S.; long., 175° 07′ E. (approx.).
Details: The light will be brought into operation again on or about the 15th September, 1947.
Further notice will be given when the radio beacon is ready for use.
