Notice of Intention to take a Residence-site Licence in Land in the Borough of Greymouth for Housing Purposes

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the residence-site licence in the land described in the Schedule hereto, held by Mary Twomey, of Greymouth, Spinster, and John McSherry, of Greymouth, Saddler, for housing purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land in respect of which the residence-site licence is required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Greymouth and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said residence-site licence should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such residence-site licence, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land in respect of which the residence-site licence is required to be taken: 2 roods 0·7 perches. Being Section 434 and part Sections 432 and 430 and Crown land, Town of Greymouth.

Situated in the Borough of Greymouth (Westland R.D.). (S.O. 4403.)

In the Westland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 125297, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

Special Order made by the Kairanga County Council altering Riding Boundaries and adjusting Representation

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 25th June, 1947.

THE following special order made by the Kairanga County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920, in so far as publication is required by that Act. Pursuant to section 100 of the aforesaid Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 1st day of October, 1947, as the date from which the subdivision of the County of Kairanga into two ridings as set out in the said special order shall take effect.

KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL
SPECIAL ORDER

Moved by Councillor F. J. Russell, seconded by Councillor M. W. Voss:—

“That, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Kairanga County Council resolves, by way of special order, as follows:—

“1. The present division of the County of Kairanga into three ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into two ridings to be called respectively Taonui Riding and Fitzherbert Riding, the said Taonui Riding to cover the whole of the district within the boundaries of the district known as the Taonui and Mangaone Ridings in the County of Kairanga, and the said Fitzherbert Riding to cover the whole of the district within the boundary of the district known as the Fitzherbert Riding in the Kairanga County.

“2. The said Kairanga County Council shall consist of nine members, who shall be elected as follows:—

“(a) The electors of the Taonui Riding shall elect six Councillors:

“(b) The electors of the Fitzherbert Riding shall elect three Councillors.

“3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on a date to be fixed in that behalf by the Minister of Internal Affairs.”

Carried.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made.

KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL

Proposed by Councillor N. P. Nielsen, seconded by Councillor M. G. Hansen:—

“That, in reference to the special order passed on the 6th day of March, 1947, and duly confirmed, concerning the revocation of the three ridings and constituting two ridings in lieu thereof, in view of the fact that such special order was defective and requires amendment, it is resolved that such special order be amended by deleting all the words after the word ‘Riding’ in line five (5) of clause 1 of such special order, and substituting the words ‘as described in the attached Schedule.’

“SCHEDULE

“Taonui Riding, Kairanga County

“All that area in the Wellington Land District, commencing in the middle of the Manawatu River at the intersection of the south-west boundary of the Kairanga County, in Block I, Arawaru Survey District; thence generally westerly, north-easterly, and south-easterly by the boundary of Kairanga County, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1942, pages 1860 and 1861, to the middle of the Manawatu River; thence south-westerly down the middle of that river to the intersection of the continuation of the north-east boundary of the City of Palmerston North; thence north-west to and along that boundary and south-west and south-east by the boundary of the City of Palmerston North, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1877, page 718, and that boundary continued to the middle of the Manawatu River; thence south-westerly down the middle of that river to the county boundary.

“Fitzherbert Riding, Kairanga County

“All that area in the Wellington Land District, bounded on the north, east, and south generally by the Kairanga County boundary, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1942, pages 1860 and 1861, and bounded on the north-west by the Taonui Riding hereinbefore described and the City of Palmerston North.”

Approval of Application by Buller County Council for Declaration of a Zone of No Parking

PURSUANT to Regulation 3 of the Traffic Sign Regulations 1937, as amended by the Traffic Sign Regulations 1937, Amendment No. 1, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the application made by the Buller County Council for a declaration that the parking of motor-vehicles shall be prohibited in the zone of no parking described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

ALL that portion of the Westport-Karamea Main Highway situated in Granity Township, commencing at the Granity Library and terminating at the Granity Creek.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:

And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman:

And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 16th day of May, 1947, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court:

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship:

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 31st day of July, 1947, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL that parcel of land situated in Block I, Onewhero Survey District, containing by admeasurement seventy (70) acres, more or less, being Allotment 219, Waiuku East Parish, and being all the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 65, folio 248 (Auckland Registry).
