Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the land described in the Schedule hereto for recreation purposes for which purpose the said land was so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Borough of Pukekohe, situated in Block XV, Drury Survey District, containing by admeasurement 18·8 perches, more or less, being part of Allotment 69, Suburban Section 1, Parish of Pukekohe, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 772, folio 241 (Auckland Land Registry). As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/1107/1/5, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (S.O. plan 33257.)

Lands temporarily reserved in the Canterbury Land District

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral licence, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve the lands in the Canterbury Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written for the purposes specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

RESERVE 4509, situated in the Borough of Riccarton: Area, 2 roods 39·8 perches, more or less. (Municipal.)

Reserve 4510, situated in the Borough of Riccarton: Area, 29 perches, more or less. (Municipal.)

Reserve 4511, situated in the Borough of Riccarton: Area, 24 perches, more or less. (Municipal.)

Reserve 4457, situated in the Borough of Riccarton: Area, 1 rood 10·2 perches, more or less. (Municipal.)

Reserve 4458, situated in the Borough of Riccarton: Area, 1 acre 1 rood 24·5 perches, more or less. (Recreation.)

Reserve 4459, situated in the Borough of Riccarton: Area, 1 acre 3 roods 20·7 perches, more or less. (Recreation.)

Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the North Auckland Land District for other Land

WHEREAS by section one hundred and sixty of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any sum by way of equality of exchange:

And whereas in the opinion of the Governor-General it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such exchange, and has agreed to pay to the Crown a sum of money by way of equality of exchange:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule upon payment by the owner thereof of the sum of money hereinbefore referred to by way of equality of exchange.

FIRST SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED

North Auckland Land District

ALL that area in the County of Whangarei, situated in Block XV, Tangihua Survey District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres and 4·2 perches, more or less, being Allotment 240, Parish of Waikiekie. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 36/1455B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

SECOND SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR

North Auckland Land District

ALL that area in the County of Whangarei, situated in Block XV, Tangihua Survey District, containing by admeasurement a total area of 1 acre and 26·4 perches, more or less, being part of the middle portion of Allotment 58 and part of Allotment 69, Parish of Waikiekie, being parts of the lands comprised and described in Certificates of Title, Volume 28, folio 83, and Volume 559, folio 199, (Auckland Land Registry). As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 36/1455B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged yellow.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 17th day of June, 1947.

Appointment in the Royal New Zealand Navy

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint Mr. Francis Arthur Bodley to a short-service commission in the Royal New Zealand Navy for a period of five years from the 26th May, 1947, in the rank of Acting Instructor Lieutenant, Royal New Zealand Navy, and with seniority of 26th May, 1947.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY

Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp. Major and Quartermaster) H. G. Salt, M.B.E., relinquishes command of the 9th Coast Regiment and assumes the temporary rank of Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 9th June, 1947.

Captain (temp. Major) G. P. Cade is appointed to command the 9th Coast Regiment, and retains the temporary rank of Major whilst so employed. Dated 10th June, 1947.

Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp. Captain and Quartermaster) H. G. Salt, M.B.E., to be Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 24th June, 1947.

N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS

Lieutenant F. H. Childs is appointed New Zealand Military Liaison Officer, Sydney, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 13th June, 1947.

N.Z. REGIMENT

Captain R. A. Bay is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Major. Dated 8th June, 1947.

N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS

Temp. Major P. N. Erridge, M.B.E., relinquishes the appointment of New Zealand Military Liaison Officer, Sydney. Dated 12th June, 1947.
