nine hundred and thirty-one, and published in the Gazette on the
sixteenth day of the same month, at page 2101, and dated the
twenty-sixth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and forty-
seven, and published in the Gazette on the second day of April,
one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, at page 401, such
electric lines at present proposed to be used being indicated by
yellow lines on the plans marked P.W.D. 125403 and 125404, and
deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington ;
and, further, for the purposes of section seventy-six of the Electric-
power Boards Act, 1925, subject to the said conditions, doth hereby
authorize the licensee to construct and maintain the said electric
works.
SCHEDULE
1. LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS
In respect of the lines hereby authorized, the licensee shall comply
with the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring
Regulations 1935, the Radio Interference Regulations 1934, and
with any regulations made or to be made in amendment or amplifi-
cation thereof or in substitution therefor. The conditions by
clause 27–11 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 directed to
be implied in all licences shall be incorporated in and shall form
part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent
with the provisions hereof.
2. SYSTEM OF SUPPLY
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraphs (a),
(c), (d), (e), and (f) of clause 21–01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935. The primary distribution voltage shall be 11,000 volts
between phases.
3. DURATION OF LICENCE
This licence shall, unless sooner lawfully determined, continue
in force until the 20th day of April, 1968. Upon the expiry of the
said term, or upon the sooner determination of this licence by
revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby granted to the licensee
shall cease and determine; but such expiration or determination
shall not relieve the licensee of any liability theretofore incurred
under this licence.
4. CHARGES FOR ELECTRICAL ENERGY
The charges for electrical energy shall not exceed 1s. per unit
for lighting purposes and 6d. per unit for all other purposes :
Provided that “lighting purposes” shall include electrical energy
used for such purposes directly or indirectly from the source of
supply, except where used to charge a secondary battery for standby
emergency lighting only ; and, provided further, that if accounts
are paid within fourteen days of due date the charges shall not
exceed 10d. per unit for lighting purposes and 4½d. per unit for
such other purposes. In the case of wholesale supply the charge
shall not exceed £16 per kilovolt-ampere per year plus ¼d. per unit.
“Wholesale supply” for this purpose shall be held to be a supply
in respect of which the consumer shall guarantee to pay not less
than £180 per year.

holder, to use Water for the Purpose of generating Electricity

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency
the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby grant to Samuel Frederick
Collier, of Otaio Gorge, Timaru, Runholder (hereinafter referred to
as the licensee), a licence, subject to the conditions hereinafter set
forth, to take and use from the Otaio River at a point situated in
Rural Section 22851, Nimrod Survey District, in the Land District
of Canterbury, for the purposes hereinafter set forth, a stream of
water not exceeding six cubic feet per second at any one time.
CONDITIONS
1. IMPLIED CONDITIONS
The conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Water-
power Regulations 1934 and the Electrical Supply Regulations
1935 shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence except
in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.
2. LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS
This licence is issued under the Water-power Regulations 1934,
and is subject thereto and to the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935,
the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, and the Radio Interference
Regulations 1934, and to any regulations made or to be made in
amplification or amendment thereof or in substitution therefor.
3. UTILIZATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS
Water shall be used under this licence solely for the purpose of
generating electricity up to a maximum capacity of 3½ kilowatts at
230 volts direct current, and shall be taken from the stream at the
point in Rural Section 22851, Nimrod Survey District, indicated
on the plan marked P.W.D. 125376, deposited in the office of the
Minister of Works at Wellington.
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
The licensee is hereby authorized, subject to the conditions
hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the
purposes of this licence, the positions of the said works being
indicated on the said plan P.W.D. 125376 :
(a) Headworks consisting of screens and intake with a pipe-line
leading to the water-turbine and power-house, herein-
after referred to, giving a static head of approximately
8 ft. :
(b) A water-turbine and power-house with all necessary
equipment for generating electricity :
(c) A tail-race leading from the said water-turbine into the
Otaio River.
5. SYSTEM OF SUPPLY
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (d)
of clause 21–01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935. The
generating voltage and the transmission voltage shall be approxi-
mately 230 volts direct current.
6. DURATION OF LICENCE
Unless sooner determined, this licence shall continue in force
until the 31st day of March, 1968, or until electrical energy is
available from an Electric-power Board or other public source of
supply, whichever is the earlier.
7. RENTAL
For the purpose of assessing the annual rental payable in respect
of this licence, the licensee may install a suitable maximum-demand
indicator to the satisfaction of the Inspecting Engineer of the
State Hydro-electric Department, and, failing such installation,
the rental shall be assessed on the maximum generating capacity
of the plant installed. The present plant is rated at 3½ kilowatts.

of the said Dominion, doth hereby grant to Fred Burton Wallis, of
Auckland, Clerk (hereinafter referred to as the licensee), a licence
subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth to obstruct, impound,
or divert the waters of a stream situated in Section 28, Block II,
Karioi Survey District, in the Land District of Auckland, and to
take and use therefrom for the purposes hereinafter set forth a
stream of water not exceeding seven cubic feet per second at any
one time, and to erect, use, and maintain the electric lines hereinafter described.

Block II, Karioi Survey District, to the power-house
hereinafter described and leading from the power-
house to Okete Bay :
(c) Pelton wheel and power-house with all necessary equipment
for generating electricity :
(d) Electric lines leading from the power-house aforesaid and
along the routes described in the next succeeding clause.
