- These regulations shall come into force on the date of the
same being published in the New Zealand Gazette. - In these regulations the words "bookmaker," "racing
club," and "race meeting" shall have the meanings ascribed to
those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908. - The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded
from the racecourse above described while the same is used or
occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely :—
(a) Bookmakers :
(b) Bookmakers' clerks, bookmakers' assistants, and book-
makers' agents :
(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing
or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the
Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to
the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand
Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting
Association :
(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort
with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means
of support :
(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking
or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counter-
feit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods,
mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind
under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly
persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues
convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and
persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act,
1908 :
Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by
the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence
as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any
conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have
relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such
person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without
notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such
revocation.
The foregoing regulations of the Kaikoura Trotting Club were
made and passed by such club on the 1st day of May, 1947, and
signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

RESOLUTION
THE following regulations were laid before the members of the
Geraldine County Trotting Club at a meeting held on the
6th day of March, 1947, at Geraldine, with a recommendation by
the Chairman of such club, Mr. C. Stock, that the same be passed
at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-
General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. Claude Stock, the Chairman of such club and the meeting,
moved, and Mr. W. F. Evans seconded, and it was resolved, that
such regulations should be adopted and that the Chairman and
Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.
The following are the regulations referred to :—
GERALDINE COUNTY TROTTING CLUB
REGULATIONS
(Under the Gaming Act, 1908)
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained
in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and
authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Geraldine County Trotting
Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter
referred to as the said club), doth hereby make the following
regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the
racecourse, situated in the district of Orari and known as the Orari
Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the
said club for race meetings.
- These regulations shall come into force on the date of the
same being published in the New Zealand Gazette. - In these regulations the words "bookmaker," "trotting

Advertisement of Cancelling
NOTICE is hereby given that the Registrar of Friendly Societies
has, pursuant to section 70 of the Friendly Societies Act,
1909, by writing under his hand dated this 19th day of May, 1947,
cancelled the registry of St. Joseph's Branch, No. 858, of The New
Zealand District of the Hibernian-Australasian Catholic Benefit
Society (Register No. 198/109), held at Wellington, on the ground
that the said branch has ceased to exist.

AKAROA BOROUGH COUNCIL
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by section 7 of the Local Bodies' Finance Act, 1921-22,
and the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers
(if any) it thereunto enabling, the Akaroa Borough Council hereby
resolves as follows :—
"That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest,
sinking fund, and other charges on the Bridge Replacement Loan,
1946, of £1,500, authorized to be raised by the said Council under
the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of replacing two wooden
bridges badly damaged by flood waters with concrete bridges, the
said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-fourth
of one penny (1/4d.) in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on
the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in the Borough
of Akaroa ; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring
rate during the currency of such loan and be payable annually on
the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency
of such loan, being a period of twenty years or until the loan is fully
paid off."
The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of
the Borough of Akaroa was hereto affixed at the office of and
pursuant to a resolution of the Akaroa Borough Council in the
presence of—
