Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Waikato, taken on the 14th day of December, 1946, on the proposal of the Waikato County Council to borrow the sum of £20,000 for the purpose of purchasing machinery and plant for road construction and maintenance, quarries, and plant maintenance—

CROWN LANDS NOTICE
Land in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease
District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 19th December, 1946.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, up to 11 a.m. on Monday, 10th February, 1947.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, on Wednesday, 12th February, 1947, at 11 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position and their farming experience.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at the conclusion of the ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and deposit on account of improvements.
NOTE.—This property is offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.
SCHEDULE
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND
Buller County.—Karamea Mining District
SECTION 47, Block VII, Kawatiri Survey District, and Section 15, Block I, Ohika Survey District : Area, 762 acres 1 rood 27 perches. Capital value, £630 ; half-yearly rent, £12 12s.
Weighted with £1,970 for improvements, comprising fencing, draining, clearing and stumping, grassing, sheep-yards, cattle-yards and dip, garage, two cowsheds, old barn and shed (24 ft. by 12 ft.). This sum is payable in cash, or after payment of a deposit of £500 the balance may be paid over 36½ years by seventy-two half-yearly instalments of £44 2s. consisting of principal and interest, and one final instalment of £24 17s. 4d. Interest portion of each instalment is subject to a rebate of one-tenth if paid within one month of due date, and providing that there are no arrears of instalments. Instalments are due on 1st January and 1st July in each year.
This property, which was previously known as "Organ's Development Block," is situated on Nine Mile Road, five miles South of Westport, five miles from dairy factory, and thirty-five miles from saleyards. Access is by metalled road. The country is flat and undulating, a small portion of the lower flats being subject to high flood waters of the Buller River. Watered by river and creeks. Soil is fair loam on lower flats and clayey and wet in places along road frontage ; gravel subsoil ; 63 acres good pasture; 60 acres fair pasture with rushes, &c. ; 148 acres bush felled and grassed ; 390 acres in bush ; 102 acres scrub, with some rough feed, this latter area being mainly wet and swampy. Some blackberry on lower flats. The property is suitable for mixed grazing.
County rates : The Government valuation for rating purposes is—Unimproved, £955; improvements, £1,805; capital value £2,760.
Discharged servicemen have preference over all other applicants.
Rental for a discharged serviceman eligible to receive concessions is at 2 per cent. per annum of the rental value of £630 for the first year, and 3 per cent. per annum for thirty-two years, thereafter at 4 per cent. per annum.
Interest rate to an "eligible" discharged serviceman is similarly 2 per cent. for the first year, 3 per cent. for thirty-two years with no rebate and the balance of the term 5 per cent. with rebate of one-tenth.
If a discharged serviceman selector transfers (with consent) to a person other than a discharged serviceman eligible to receive concessions, the rent and interest concession rates cease and rent and interest revert to "civilian" rates.
