THE following notice, received by the Minister of Finance from the Chairman of the Waihemo County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to Raise a Loan

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, we hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the County of Waihemo, taken on the 12th day of October, 1946, on the proposal of the Waihemo County Council to borrow the sum of £3,000, for the purpose of building new county offices and chambers—

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 175
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was .. 78
Informal .. .. .. .. .. 4

As the total number of valid votes in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths (3/5ths) of the total number of valid votes recorded, we therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Hastings, taken on the 26th day of September, 1946, on the proposal of the Hastings Borough Council to borrow the sum of £84,300 for the purposes as set out hereunder, the voting was as follows :—

Appointment of Deputy District Public Trustee

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by section 3 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, I, the Public Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand, have appointed William Max Litherland, of the Public Trust Office, Waipukurau, to be deputy of the District Public Trustee, Waipukurau, during the absence of such District Public Trustee from his headquarters from any cause, and all previous Warrants appointing any deputy of the said District Public Trustee have been revoked.

Public Trust Office.—Termination of Agency at Hokitika and Appointment of District Manager

IT is notified for public information that the Agency of the Public Trust Office at Hokitika has been terminated, and a permanent branch will be established as from 1st November, 1946, under the control of Mr. G. O. Wake.

Public Trust Office.—Alteration and Reconstitution of Local Districts

WHEREAS by section 2 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, it is enacted that the Public Trustee may, by notice in the Gazette, from time to time establish and define, abolish, alter, and reconstitute local districts for the purposes of the said Act :

And whereas, in pursuance of the said power, a notice establishing and defining (inter alia) the local district to be controlled by the District Public Trustee at Christchurch was published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 13th day of April, 1922 :

And whereas it has become expedient to establish a local district to be known as the Ashburton District, to consist of part of the lands formerly included in the said local district of Christchurch :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the said section 2, I, William George Baird, the Public Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, as from the 1st day of November, 1946, establish the local district to be controlled by the District Public Trustee as Ashburton and alter the local district controlled by the District Public Trustee at Christchurch, as set out hereunder :—

LOCAL DISTRICT OF ASHBURTON

The Borough of Ashburton, the Town District of Tinwald, and the whole of the County of Ashburton.

LOCAL DISTRICT OF CHRISTCHURCH

The following area has been removed from the control of the District Public Trustee at Christchurch and placed under the control of the District Public Trustee at Ashburton :—

The Borough of Ashburton, the Town District of Tinwald, and the whole of the County of Ashburton.

Notice that Land is vested in the Public Trustee pursuant to Part II of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908

WHEREAS by notice published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 28th day of March, 1946, and in The Times at Palmerston North on the 13th day of June, 1946, the 27th day of June, 1946, and the 6th day of July, 1946, the Public Trustee did call upon the owner of the following land—that is to say, all that the one-half share or interest in fee-simple of which Elizabeth Wilson, of Wellington, Married Woman, is registered proprietor (as tenant in common in equal shares with Talbot Giles Brazier, of Kimbolton, Farm Hand), in all that parcel of land containing 1 acre 3 roods 3 perches, more or less, being Suburban Section No. 32, Township of Kimbolton, Block XIII, Apiti Survey District, and being the whole of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 449, folio 103 (Wellington Registry)—within six months of the date of publication of the said notice in the New Zealand Gazette to establish his or her title to the said land to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee, and stated in such notice that if the owner did not do so the Public Trustee would exercise as regards the said land the powers and authorities granted to the Public Trustee in and by the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II), and its amendments :

And whereas the value of the said land is less than £500 :

Now, the Public Trustee gives notice, pursuant to the provisions of section 67 (d) of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, as amended by the provisions of section 38 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, that the said land is vested in the Public Trustee, and will be administered under the provisions of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II), and its amendments.
