Redefining Boundaries of the City of Dunedin, the County of Taieri, and the Kaikorai Riding of the County of Taieri

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 21st October, 1946.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the City of Dunedin are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said city having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 26th day of June, 1946, and published in Gazette No. 46 of the 27th day of June, 1946.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the County of Taieri affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

And, in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Kaikorai Riding of the County of Taieri affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.


FIRST SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF DUNEDIN

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, bounded towards the north by Blocks III and XII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, from the north-eastern corner of Section 3, Block V, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District (Swampy Hill), to the north-eastern corner of Section 72, Block VIII ; thence towards the east by the eastern boundary of the section to the northernmost corner of Section 55, Block VIII aforesaid ; thence towards the south-east generally by Section 55, across a road, Section 58, across a road, Sections 35, 8, 7, across a road, Sections 5, 6, 14, 17, 10, across a road, Sections 9, 50, 15, 13, 12, and the south-western boundary of the last-mentioned section produced to the middle of the road forming the north-western boundary of Block XI, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District ; thence towards the north-east by a line along the middle of that road to Section 61, Block VIII aforesaid ; thence to and by the north-western boundary of that section to Section 62 ; towards the north-east generally by Sections 62 and 48, Block VIII, Section 42, Block VII, to and by a closed road (now Section 369R) to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 85, North-east Valley Survey District, to and by that section to a road at its southernmost corner, by that road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 84, North-east Valley Survey District ; thence to and by that section and the production of its south-western boundary to Section 2 of 4, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, and by that section to the northernmost corner of Section 2 of 5 ; thence towards the south-east by a right line to a Trig. E, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, and a right line to the southernmost corner of Section 51, Block IX aforesaid ; thence by the southern boundary of that section to the north-western corner of Section 52 ; thence by the north-western boundary of said Section 52 for a distance of 2900 links to the south-eastern boundary of the area vested in the Otago Harbour Board, Deeds Volume 54, folio 902 (Otago Registry) ; thence towards the north-east generally by the original high-water mark of the Otago Harbour, the Dunedin – Port Chalmers Main Highway, and again the said high-water mark to Trig. EE, the said high-water mark being the southern boundary of the Borough of West Harbour ; thence by a right line from Trig. EE to the south-eastern boundary of the land vested in the Otago Harbour Board by the Otago Harbour Board Lands Vesting Bill, 1910, 163° 21′ 46″, 360 links ; thence towards the south-west by the said south-eastern boundary to the aforesaid south-eastern boundary of the area vested in the Otago Harbour Board, Deeds Volume 54, folio 902 ; thence towards the south-east by that boundary to a point in line with the southern side of Park Terrace, distant 1000 links, more or less, from the southern corner of that terrace ; thence by a right line to a point in line with the north-western side of Cargill Road, distant 1000 links, more or less, from the north-eastern corner of that road ; thence by a line being the production of the north-western side of Cargill Road to a point distant 2800 links, more or less, from the north-eastern corner of that road to low-water mark, and by low-water mark for a distance of 4180 links, more or less ; thence by a line 3500 links, more or less, to the eastern corner of Allotment 8, D.P. 2950 (Otago Registry) ; thence north-easterly by the north-eastern side of Portobello Road and high-water mark of Otago Harbour and Anderson’s Bay to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Original Section 12, Block V, Anderson’s Bay Survey District ; thence to and by the north-western boundary of that section ; thence to and along the south-eastern side of Dunrobin Street to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of the Township of Waverley ; thence towards the south-east by the southern side of the last-mentioned road and its production in a south-easterly direction to the middle of Highcliff Road ; thence towards the south generally by a line along the middle of the said Highcliff Road to the south-western boundary of Original Section 8, Block VII, Anderson’s Bay Survey District ; thence to and by the south-western boundaries of Original Sections 8 and 9, Block VII aforesaid, to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned section ; thence by Original Section 4, Block VII aforesaid, to Darnell Street, to and along the south-western side of the said street to the Tomahawk Lagoon ; thence by the said Tomahawk Lagoon to Tomahawk Road ; thence towards the south generally by the northern side of the Tomahawk Road and the Tahuna Road to the north-eastern boundary of Original Section 7, Block VII, Otago Peninsula Survey District ; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of the said Original Section 7 to the north-western side of a closed road ; thence south-westerly to the north-eastern side of Original Section 79, Block VII, Town District ; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern side of said Original Section 79 to the south-eastern boundary of Original Section 72 ; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary
