KING-COUNTRY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the King-country Electric-power Board hereby resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of one hundred and twenty thousand pounds, authorized to be raised by the King-country Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Act, to pay establishment charges incidental to the constitution of the Power District, making surveys, advertising the scheme, repayment of advances made to the Board, and the cost of the first election of the Board, the purchase of land, the purchase or erection of buildings, including dwellings for staff, the purchase of equipment, material, plant, tools, and all payments for labour, surveys, engineer’s fees, plans, supervision, and compensation to owners of property, the acquisition, reconditioning, and strengthening of existing and the construction and erection of new transmission-lines, transformer stations, and all fittings and appliances for conveying, transmitting, and distributing electricity, for the purchase of electric motors, fittings, equipment, and appliances for sale or hire, for advances to consumers for electrical installations and/or the purchase of electric motors, fittings, equipment, and appliances, and generally for all capital expenditure necessary or incidental to the conduct of the activities of the Board as defined by the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, amendments thereto, and regulations thereunder, including payment of the cost of raising the loan and interest and sinking fund for the first year, the said King-country Electric-power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of threepence in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the whole of the King-country Electric-power District ; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

The above resolution was passed at a meeting of the King-country Electric-power Board held on Saturday, 12th January, 1946.

PUBLIC NOTICE

TAKE notice that a certain scheme under the Religious, Charitable, and Educational Trusts Act, 1908, whereby the Lyttelton Harbour Board proposes to hand over to the British Sailors’ Society at Home and Abroad (Lyttelton Branch, Incorporated) for the general purposes of that society the trust fund of £500 bequeathed by the late Honourable J. T. Peacock to the trustees of the Sailors’ Home at Lyttelton for the purposes of that institution, which scheme has been approved by the Attorney-General, has been referred to a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand for an order approving the scheme with or without any modification or variation as he may think fit.

The papers, including the said scheme, have been filed in the office of the Supreme Court at Christchurch.

The address for service of the parties making such application is at the office of Messieurs Harper, Pascoe, Buchanan, and Upham, Solicitors, No. 118 Hereford Street, Christchurch.

CARTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND

In the matter of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, and the Public Works Act, 1928.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Carterton Borough Council proposes, under provision of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the making of a street between Pembroke Street and Broadway in the Borough of Carterton—and for the purpose of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands as required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council situate in High Street, Carterton, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.

All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands who have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands must state their objections in writing, and send same, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Town Clerk at the Council Chambers, High Street, Carterton.

MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Marton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of four thousand five hundred pounds (£4,500), authorized to be raised by the Marton Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purchase and installation of one filter, pipes and fittings, excavation work, and the erection of a new filter-house incidental thereto, the said Marton Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of five-eighths of a penny (⅝d.) in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Marton ; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable half-yearly in March and September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years or until the loan is fully paid off.”
