MENTAL HOSPITALS DEPARTMENT

NOTES.—Increases due to attendants and nurses below the rank of Senior are according to scale and subject to qualifying in their respective grades as set out in the Rules and Regulations for Nurses.

Tradesmen in charge of working parties of three or more employees will be paid an “ in charge ” allowance at the rate of £15 per annum whilst so engaged.

REFERENCES (except where otherwise stated the amount shown with the reference letter is to be deducted from the amount shown in the salary column): * Also scale lodging allowance. † Subject to passing Senior Nursing Examination within a reasonable period after discharge from the Forces. ‡ Also an allowance of £50 per annum as Acting Assistant Medical Superintendent. § To receive as additional remuneration the difference between salary and £300 per annum to bring salary up to the minimum for a married man. ¶ Includes increment in terms of Public Service Regulation 205. †† Subject to passing the Junior and Senior Nursing Examinations within a reasonable period after discharge from the Forces. ‡‡ Includes additional salary as holder of General Nursing Certificate, £50 per annum for Matrons (Classes A and B) and £25 per annum for Assistant Matrons and Tutor Sisters. ± On leave without pay. ξ Grading personal to officer. a, Board and lodgings; b, meals when on duty; c, residence only; e, also free house, fuel, and light; g, residence, fuel, and light; h, privileged to purchase from institution store at cost price as part payment in commuting former system of free maintenance; i, to receive £20 per annum allowance from 1/4/46 while acting as Deputy Charge Attendant; j, further increment subject to passing Junior Examination; k, to receive annual allowance as shown from 1/4/46 while acting as Charge Attendant; l, free laundry service; m, Medico-psychological certificate; o, to receive £25 per annum allowance from 1/4/46 while acting as Sister; p, to receive an allowance to bring remuneration up to £300 per annum from 1/4/46 while acting as Staff Nurse; r, Senior Mental nursing certificate; t, to receive annual allowance as shown from 1/4/46 while acting as Head Attendant or Matron. λ Does not contribute to Superannuation Fund. △ Seconded to National Employment Department.
