THE following notice, received by the Minister of Finance from the Chairman of the Tauranga Electric-power Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the constituent districts of Tauranga County, part Rotorua County, part Ohinemuri County, Mount Maunganui Borough, and part Tauranga Borough, within the Tauranga Electric-power District, was taken on the 27th day of July, 1946, on the proposal of the Tauranga Electric-power Board to borrow the sum of £50,000 for the purpose of supplying and distributing electric energy for the benefit of the above-mentioned constituent districts.

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 213
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was.. 27
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Price Order No. 604 (U.S.A. Safety Matches)

PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 604, and shall come into force on the 16th day of September, 1946.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER

  1. This Order applies only with respect to safety matches manufactured in the United States of America and sold in New Zealand.

FIXING MAXIMUM PRICES OF MATCHES TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES

Wholesalers’ Price

  1. The maximum price that may be charged or received by any wholesaler for any safety matches to which this Order applies shall be 11s. 6d. per gross boxes, less the appropriate rate of cash discount customarily allowed prior to the coming into force of this Order according to the class of business of the retailer to whom the sale is made.

Retailers’ Price

  1. The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any safety matches to which this Order applies shall be—

  1. Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of this Order, and subject to such conditions if any, as it thinks fit, the Tribunal, on application by any wholesaler or retailer, may authorize special maximum prices in respect of any safety matches to which this Order applies where for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the wholesaler or retailer. Any authority given by the Tribunal under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of safety matches or may relate generally to all safety matches to which this Order applies sold by the wholesaler or retailer while the approval remains in force.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Malt Extract Industry

Salmond and Spraggon, Ltd., G.P.O. Box 662, Wellington, has applied for a variation of its existing license on behalf of the company’s principals, Messrs. A. Wander, Ltd., for the removal of the restrictions on the manufacture of malt extract to be carried out in their factory at Main North Road, Papanui, Christchurch.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

R. S. Keenan, Wellington Automobile Association, Wellington, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from two pumps installed on service-station premises in Muritai Road, Eastbourne, formerly occupied by the late A. M. Bailey.

M. W. Mathieson, Milford, Auckland, has applied for a variation of the conditions of his existing motor-spirit reseller’s license to permit the transfer of two pumps from premises in Kitchener Road to a new site at the corner of Kitchener Road and Frieston Road.

H. Emerson, Castlepoint Beach, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on a site adjoining store premises at Castlepoint Beach.

W. R. Bradley and Co., Ltd., Wellington, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at 171–173 Taranaki Street, Wellington.

A. N. Lane and T. F. Cummings, 344 King Street, Dunedin, have applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from two pumps to be installed on premises known as North End Car Sales, 344 King Street, Dunedin.

C. A. Chirnside, 182 Cargill Road, Dunedin, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on premises known as Chirnside’s Garage, 182 Cargill Road, Dunedin.

Arona Bros., Nukutawhiti, have applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on contractor’s premises at Nukutawhiti.

G. B. Gray, Lucknow Street, Havelock, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on the kerbside facing premises known as Havelock Motors, the pump to be taken over from W. G. Spittal and transferred from its present yard site.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than the 26th day of September, 1946, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to the Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
