PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price Order:—

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 582, and shall be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 96† (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).

This Order shall come into force on the 29th day of July, 1946.

The Schedule to the principal Order is hereby amended by adding in the first column, after the words “All other brands of wooden safety matches”, the words “for which maximum selling-prices have not been otherwise fixed.”

Price Order No. 583 (Swedish Safety Matches)
——
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industry and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:—
- This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 583, and shall come into force on the 29th day of July, 1946.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies only with respect to safety matches manufactured in Sweden and sold in New Zealand.
FIXING MAXIMUM PRICES OF MATCHES TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
Wholesalers’ Price
- The maximum price that may be charged or received by any wholesaler for any safety matches to which this Order applies shall be 12s 1½d. per gross boxes, less the appropriate rate of cash discount customarily allowed prior to the date of this Order according to the class of business of the retailer to whom the sale is made.
Retailers’ Price

The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any safety matches to which this Order applies shall be 1½d. per box.

Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of this Order, and subject to such conditions, if any, as it thinks fit, the Tribunal, on application by any wholesaler or retailer, may authorize special maximum prices in respect of any safety matches to which this Order applies where for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the wholesaler or retailer. Any authority given by the Tribunal under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of safety matches or may relate generally to all safety matches to which this Order applies sold by the wholesaler or retailer while the approval remains in force.

Appointment of Deputy District Public Trustee

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by section 3 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, I, the Public Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand, have appointed Berkeley Phelps Hopkins, of the Public Trust Office, Whangarei, to be deputy of the District Public Trustee, Whangarei, during the absence of such District Public Trustee from his headquarters from any cause, and all previous Warrants appointing any deputy of the said District Public Trustee have been revoked.

Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
W. J. Cargill, 29 Hukanui Crescent, Herne Bay, Auckland, has applied for a license to manufacture women’s fashion shoes, low and high Cuban heels, by the cemented process, and women’s wedge-heel sandals by the auto-soled process.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
H. Philpott, Hatepe, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on proposed store premises at Hatepe on the shores of Lake Taupo between Taupo and Turangi.
E. C. Lawrence, The Portage, Marlborough Sounds, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit otherwise than through pumps ex a depot to be established at The Portage, Marlborough Sounds.
Smeed’s Quarries, Ltd., Tuakau, has applied for permission to install a fixed pump on premises at River Road, Tuakau, in place of the portable unit authorized by the company’s current license.
E. T. Lawrence, Bannockburn, has applied for permission to install a fixed pump on carrier’s premises at Bannockburn in place of the portable unit authorized by his current license.
I. C. R. Norrie, Glen Afton, has applied for permission to transfer his motor-spirit reseller’s license in respect of two pumps from the present site in Glen Afton to a proposed new site at Rotowaro.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than the 8th day of August, 1946, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to the Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
