PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price Order :—

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 548, and shall be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 310† (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).

This Order shall come into force on the 20th day of May, 1946.

Price Order No. 549 (Canned Herrings)
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order :—
- This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 549, and shall come into force on the 20th day of May, 1946.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies with respect to all canned herrings in tomato sauce and canned fresh herrings imported into New Zealand in 14 oz. containers.
FIXING MAXIMUM PRICES OF CANNED HERRINGS TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
Wholesalers’ Prices
- The maximum prices (exclusive of sales tax) that may be charged or received by any wholesaler for any canned herrings to which this Order applies shall be determined as follows :—
(a) When sold by a wholesaler whose premises are situate in any of the cities of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin, the maximum price shall be 17s. 9d. per dozen cans :
(b) When sold by a wholesaler whose premises are situate elsewhere, the maximum price shall be 18s. 3d. per dozen cans.
Retailers’ Prices
- The maximum prices that may be charged or received by any retailer for any canned herrings to which this Order applies shall be determined as follows :—
(a) When sold by a retailer whose premises are situate in any area within which any wholesaler carrying on business in any of the cities of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin normally undertakes the free delivery of goods to retailers, the maximum price shall be 2s. 2d. per can :
(b) When sold by a retailer whose premises are situate elsewhere, the maximum price shall be 2s. 3d. per can.
Special Prices where Extraordinary Charges Incurred
- Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of this Order, and subject to such conditions, if any, as it thinks fit, the Tribunal, on application by any wholesaler or retailer may authorize special maximum wholesale or retail prices in respect of any canned herrings to which this Order applies where for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the wholesaler or retailer. Any authority given by the Tribunal under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of canned herrings, or may relate generally to all canned herrings to which this Order applies sold by the wholesaler or retailer while the approval remains in force.

Price Order No. 550 (Milk) (Tekapo)
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order :—
PRELIMINARY

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 550, and shall come into force on the 16th day of May, 1946.

In this Order—
“Consumer” means a person who buys milk for purposes other than resale.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies with respect to all milk sold after the coming into force of this Order and before the 1st day of September, 1946, by any person to a consumer within the locality occupied by the Public Works Camp at Tekapo.
FIXING PRICE OF MILK TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
- (1) The maximum price that may be charged or received for any milk to which this order applies shall be computed at the rate of 7d. per quart.
(2) The price fixed by the last preceding subclause is fixed as for delivery at the premises of the purchaser.
