Authorizing the Laying-off of a Road of less Width than 66 ft.
WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Ilam Extension No. 32 affecting part Rural Section 12, Block X, Christchurch Survey District, Canterbury Land District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that the road shown as Karaka Street North thereon should be of the width of 66 ft.:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power him thereunto enabling, the Minister of Lands doth hereby authorize the laying-off of the road shown as Karaka Street North of a width of not less than 50 ft.: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

Notice as to Area in Westland Land District declared to be a Fire District
PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I hereby notify that on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the Westland Land District the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district, and, with respect to the fire district constituted as aforesaid, I do further specify the period from the 1st day of August in any year to the 30th day of April in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire or cause to be set on fire, any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.
SCHEDULE
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WESTLAND CONSERVANCY
ALL that area in the Westland Land District containing 32,300 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XIII, XIV, XV, Mawheraiti Survey District, and Blocks I, II, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII, and XII, Ahaura Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the northernmost corner of Section 2375, Block XII, Ahaura Survey District, and proceeding in a south-westerly direction along the north-western boundary of that section and that boundary produced to the south-western side of the Ahaura–Kopara Road; thence generally in a north-westerly direction along the south-western side of the Ahaura–Kopara Road to the north-eastern corner of Section 11, Block II, Ahaura Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction across the Ahaura–Kopara Road and along the western side of the Orwell Creek Road to the north-eastern corner of Section 106, Square 122; thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundaries of Sections 106, 105, 247, 246, of Square 122, and of Section 110, across a road, and again in a westerly direction along the southern side of the road fronting the northern boundary of R. 1331, and that boundary produced across a road to a point opposite the south-eastern corner of Section 18; thence in a northerly direction across a road to the south-eastern corner of said Section 18; thence in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of that section, across a road, and along the eastern boundary of Section 17; thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundary of Section 17 to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 133, Square 122; thence in a north-easterly direction, across a road, to and along the south-eastern boundary of that section; thence in a north-westerly direction along the north-eastern boundary of the aforesaid Section 133; thence across a road to the south-western corner of Section 27; thence generally in a northerly direction along the western boundaries of that section to its north-western corner; thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundary of Section 13 and that boundary produced across a road; thence in a north-easterly direction along the north-western side of that road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 81; thence in an easterly direction to and along that boundary and the production thereof to the eastern side of a road; thence generally in a southerly direction along the eastern side of that road to the north-western boundary of Section 2698; thence in a north-easterly direction along that boundary to a road; thence generally in a northerly direction along the western side of that road to the northernmost corner of Section 9; thence across that road to the westernmost corner of Section 10; thence generally in an easterly direction along the northern boundaries of that section and the northern boundary of Section 2699 to the western side of a road, and across that road to the westernmost corner of Section 8; thence in an easterly direction along the northern boundary of that section to a road, and across that road to the westernmost corner of Section 153; thence easterly and northerly along the northern and western boundaries respectively of that section to a road; thence across that road to its northern side; thence easterly and northerly along the northern and western sides respectively of that road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 21; thence across that road to and along the northern boundary of Section 21 aforesaid; thence in an easterly direction along the northern boundary of Section 158 to the western boundary of Section 159; thence northerly and easterly along the western and northern boundaries respectively of that section;
thence in an easterly direction along the northern boundary of Section 3366; thence south-easterly and north-easterly along the northern boundaries of Section 2905 to the Waipuna Road, and across that road to its north-eastern side; thence generally in a south-easterly direction along the north-eastern side of that road to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 259, Block XV, Mawheraiti Survey District; thence generally in a southerly direction across the Waipuna Road, to and along the western boundary of Section 259 to its southernmost corner; thence due south by a right line across a road to the north-western boundary of Section 5, Square 121; thence south-westerly and south-easterly along the north-western and south-western boundaries respectively of that section to the road abutting on the north-eastern boundary of Section 10; thence in a northerly direction along the western side of that road to the north-eastern side of the Clarke Track; thence generally in a south-easterly direction along the north-eastern side of the Clarke Track to the western boundary of Section 656; thence in a northerly direction along the western boundary of that section and the production thereof to the left bank of the Grey River; thence generally in a south-easterly direction along the said left bank of that river to a point in line with that portion of the eastern boundary of Section 3325, 540·8 links from the Clarke Track; thence to and along that boundary to the north-eastern side of the Clarke Track; thence due south to the south-western side of that track; thence by a right line bearing 183° 46′ 39287·5 links to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 120/31, deposited in the Head Office, State Forest Service, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1945.—Income-tax payable
IN accordance with Order in Council dated 13th September, 1945, issued under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and the Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1945, I hereby notify that the income-tax leviable under section 3 of the latter Act is payable at any office of the Land and Income Tax Department or at any money-order post-office in one sum on Thursday, 14th February, 1946, and that additional tax accrues if not paid by 7th March, 1946. Liability is not suspended by any objection, and tax must be paid by the prescribed date to avoid additional percentage; any overpayment will be refunded.
Demands will be issued on or about 7th February, 1946, and must be presented with all payments. Taxpayers who do not receive an expected demand should communicate with the Superintendent of the office of the Land and Income Tax Department where the taxpayer’s records are filed. If any taxpayer is in doubt as to the location of his records he should communicate with the Commissioner of Taxes, Wellington.

British Shoes, Ltd., P.O. Box 508, Christchurch, has applied for an extension of its existing license so as to permit the manufacture of infants’ and children’s shoes, sizes 3’s to 1’s, by the cemented process in Temuka.
Ace Footwear, Ltd., 75 Jackson Street, Petone, has applied for a license to permit the manufacture of men’s, women’s, youths’, maids’, and children’s sandals by the machine-sewn, riveted, and cemented processes.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
W. Gloyn, Whangarei, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from petrol pumps to be installed at proposed service-station premises situated at the corner of West End Avenue and Mounce Road, Whangarei.
W. J. Burley, Reefton, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from four petrol pumps installed at service-station premises situated at the corner of Broadway and Walshe Street, Reefton.
E. P. O’Reilly, New Plymouth, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one petrol pump installed at garage premises situated at the corner of Carrington Road and Upper Vogeltown, New Plymouth.
