Proposed Boundaries of the Electoral Districts in the North Island and the South Island of New Zealand

THE Representation Commission, appointed in pursuance of section 2 of the Electoral Amendment Act, 1945, hereby publishes in accordance with the provisions of section 5 of the said Act, the proposed boundaries of the electoral districts in the North and the South Islands of New Zealand; and, further, gives notice that written objections to the same will be received by the undersigned, the Chairman of the Commission, at the office of the Surveyor-General, Government Buildings, Wellington, not later than noon on Monday, the 6th day of May, 1946, for consideration by the aforesaid Commission.

Maps of the proposed districts may be seen at the office of any City or Borough Council, County Council, Town Board, or Road Board; of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland, New Plymouth, Gisborne, Napier, Wellington, Blenheim, Nelson, Hokitika, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill; of the Chief Electoral Officer at Wellington; and of the Registrars of Electors throughout the Dominion.

HOBSON

All that area comprising the County of Mangonui, the County of Whangaroa, the County of Hokianga, the County of Hobson, the Borough of Kaitaia, the Borough of Dargaville, the Town District of Kaikohe, the Kerikeri, Okaihau, Waimate, Pakaraka, Kawakawa, Matauraua, and Tautoro Ridings of the County of Bay of Islands, the Mangakahia Riding of the County of Whangarei, and the Tokatoka, Ruawai, and Matakohe Ridings of the County of Otamatea, and including the Cavalli Islands, Stephenson's Island, and adjacent islands.

MARSDEN

All that area comprising the Borough of Whangarei, the Town District of Kamo, the Town District of Hikurangi, the Russell and Towai Ridings of the County of the Bay of Islands, the Mareretu, Wairau, Paparoa, and Whakapirau Ridings of the County of Otamatea, the County of Whangarei, excluding Mangakahia Riding. Also the following groups of islands: Poor Knights, Hen and Chickens, and Mokohinau, and other adjacent islands.

RODNEY

All that area comprising the County of Rodney, the Town District of Helensville, the Town District of Warkworth, the Kaiwaka Riding of the County of Otamatea, the Kaukapakapa, Wainui, Mairetahi, Kumeu, Pukeatua, and Takapuna Ridings of the County of Waitemata, that part of the Birkenhead Riding of the County of Waitemata lying to the north of Pupuke Road, and that part of the Borough of Takapuna lying to the north-west of a line commencing at a point on the south-western boundary of the aforesaid borough in line with the north side of Karaka Street; thence to and along the aforesaid street, along Taharoto Road, and along Northcote Road to Lake Pupuke; thence along the southern shore of the aforesaid lake to and along The Promenade to the sea. Also including the following Islands: Kawau and Motuhora, and other adjacent islands.

WAITAKERERE

All that area comprising the Waitakere, Waipareira, Waikumete, and Titirangi Ridings of the County of Waitamata, Pine Island, the Borough of New Lynn, the Town District of Glen Eden, the Town District of Henderson, and that part of the City of Auckland lying to the south of a line along the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 4 and 1 on D.P. 16351, being part of Allotment 62, Titirangi Parish, to and across Great North Road, along that road to the north-eastern boundary of Lot 71 on D.P. 177, being part of Allotments 14 and 15, Titirangi Parish, and along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 71 aforesaid to the mean high-water mark of Waitemata Harbour.

NORTH SHORE

All that area comprising the Borough of Devonport, that part of the Borough of Takapuna lying to the south-east of a line commencing at a point on the south-western boundary of the aforesaid borough in line with the north side of Karaka Street; thence to and along the aforesaid street, along Taharoto Road, and along Northcote Road to Lake Pupuke; thence along the southern shore of the aforesaid lake to and along The Promenade to the sea. Also that part of the Borough of Northcote lying to the east of a line commencing at a point on the western boundary of the aforesaid borough, being the south-eastern corner of Allotment 8, Takapuna Parish; thence along the production of the eastern boundary of the aforesaid allotment to Gladstone Road; thence easterly along Gladstone Road to and along Woodside Avenue, Onewa Road, and Church Street, to its intersection with a road on the right, opposite Faulkner Road; thence westerly along that road and the western boundary of Lot 24 of Allotment 51, Takapuna Parish, to the northern boundary of recreation reserve; thence easterly, and then southerly along the eastern boundary of the aforesaid recreation reserve to the Waitemata Harbour, including all wharves and extensions seaward.
