Declaring Sections 88 and 94, Township of Featherston, in the Wellington Acclimatization District, to be a Sanctuary

IN pursuance of the powers conferred on me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, situated in the Borough of Featherston, containing by admeasurement ten (10) acres, more or less, and being Suburban Sections 88 and 94, Township of Featherston.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 12th day of March, 1946.

Declaring part of Pastoral Run 424, Block XIX, New River Hundred, in the Southland Acclimatization District, to be a Sanctuary

IN pursuance of the powers conferred on me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare the area prescribed in the Schedule hereto to be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area in the Southland Land District, being part of Pastoral Run 424, Block XIX, New River Hundred, and bounded as follows: Towards the north-east by a public road, along the south-western boundaries of part Section 3A, Section 3R, part Section 9, Sections 4A and 8, all of Block XIX aforesaid; towards the south-east by a right line bearing 235° for a distance of 4000 links; towards the south-west by another right line bearing 320° 04′ for a distance of 7401·7 links to a public road intersecting the aforesaid Pastoral Run 424; towards the north-west by the said public road: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked I.A. 52/127, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Land permanently reserved in the Westland Land District for Railway Purposes

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
And whereas by the three-hundred-and-sixtieth section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section may, at the expiration of one month, but not later than six months, after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was by the Warrant dated the fifteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-six, and published in the Gazette of the twenty-fourth day of that month, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Act for railway purposes:
Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the land described in the Schedule hereto for railway purposes for which purpose the said land was so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.

RESERVE 1862, Town of Runanga (formerly Sections 6 and 7, Block XXXVII, Town of Runanga), Block III, Cobden Survey District: Area, 1 rood 30·7 perches, more or less.

Member appointed to Hundalee Scenic Reserves Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, and published in the Gazette of the eighth day of that month, the control of certain reserves in the Marlborough Land District, known as the Hundalee Scenic Reserves, was vested in certain persons therein named, who were by the said Warrant constituted a special Board by the name of the Hundalee Scenic Reserves Board, in pursuance of section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908: And whereas it is desirable that James David Eric Winskill should be appointed a member of the said Board in place of Hugh Edwin Kennett, deceased:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby appoint the said
James David Eric Winskill
to be a member of the Hundalee Scenic Reserves Board constituted by the Warrant dated the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, hereinbefore referred to, in place of the said Hugh Edwin Kennett.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 18th day of March, 1946.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic and Historic Reserve in the Waima Scenic and Historic Board

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act), for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,—
The Resident Methodist Minister at Rawene, ex officio,
George Pearson (jun.),
Arnold Brocas,
Thomas Percival Lane,
Henry Tawhai, and
Norman Reid Maxwell,
who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Waima Scenic and Historic Board (herein referred to as the Board), in trust, for the preservation of scenery, and with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Saturday, the sixteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and forty-six, at one o’clock p.m., at the residence of Mr. N. R. Maxwell, Rawene, and thereafter the Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the third Saturday in each month at the time and place aforesaid, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.

The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting is given to each member specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

If, by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

The Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.
SCHEDULE
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Hokianga County, situated in Block IV, Waoku Survey District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 31 perches, more or less, being part Old Land Claim 80, being residue of Scenic and Historic Reserve set apart (Gazette, 1927, page 3539). As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/466A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor General, this 12th day of March, 1946.
