to be Deputy Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the District of Wanganui, on and from the 23rd day of January, 1946.

to be Deputy Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the District of Grey, on and from the 6th day of February, 1946.

Appointments in the Public Service

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—

Constable Robert Thomas James McNeill

to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Houhora for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, on and from the 6th day of January, 1946.

Albert Edward Hynes

to be Deputy Registrar at Wanganui of the Supreme Court of New Zealand for the purposes of the Judicature Act, 1908, on and from the 23rd day of January, 1946.

John George Russell

to be Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Egmont for the purposes of the Electoral Act, 1927, and its amendments, and Returning Officer for the Egmont Licensing District for the purposes of the Licensing Act, 1908, and its amendments, on and from the 15th day of December, 1945.

Mathew Max Maddison

to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Orchard and Garden Diseases Act, 1928, on and from the 19th day of February, 1946.

NOTE.—The Register is arranged alphabetically under the names of holders of licenses; but when an individual holds a license on behalf of a firm or registered company, the name of such firm or company, and not the name of the holder of the license, is placed in its alphabetical order.

In the case of a firm or company the name of which consists of the Christian name or names (or initials) and surname or surnames of some person or persons, the index letter is the first letter of the first surname.

Further, where an individual holder of a license trades under a particular name the trade-name appears in its alphabetical order.
