COOK COUNTY COUNCIL
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND AND TO STOP A LENGTH OF ROAD
In the matter of the Counties Act, 1920, and the Public Works Act, 1928
NOTICE is hereby given that the Cook County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the deviation of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the First Schedule hereto are required to be taken and the road described in the Second Schedule is to be stopped.
And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so required to be taken and of the road to be stopped is deposited in the public office of the Clerk of the said Council situate Childers Road, Gisborne, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such land or the stopping of said road who have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands or to the stopping of said road must state their objections in writing, and send the same, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the County Clerk at the Council Chambers.

RESOLUTION
THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Club at a meeting held on the 22nd day of November, 1945, at Ashhurst, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. R. MacDonald, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. R. MacDonald, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. C. V. Ciochetto seconded, and it was resolved that such regulations should be adopted and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.
The following are the regulations referred to:—
ASHHURST-POHANGINA RACING CLUB
REGULATIONS
(Under the Gaming Act, 1908)
In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the property situated in the district of Manawatu, and known as the Awapuni Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—
(a) Bookmakers:
(b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents:
(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association:
(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support:
(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908:
Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.
The foregoing regulations of the Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Club were made and passed by such club on the 22nd day of November, 1945, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.
