Varying a Warrant vesting the Control of Portions of the Great South Road in the Auckland City Council, the One Tree Hill Borough Council, the Ellerslie Town Board, and the Mount Wellington Road Board, respectively

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby vary the Warrant dated the sixth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-nine, and published in Gazette No. 14 of the ninth day of the same month at page 365, vesting the control of portions of the Great South Road in the Auckland City Council, the One Tree Hill Borough Council, the Ellerslie Town Board, and the Mount Wellington Road Board, respectively, and revoking former Warrants by directing first, that the portion of street described in the First Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of the gazetting hereof, be under the control of and maintained by the One Tree Hill Borough Council ; and, secondly, that the portion of street described in the Second Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of the gazetting hereof, be under the control of and maintained by the Auckland City Council ; and I do further vary such Warrant by omitting the words “ Ellerslie Town Board ” wherever they occur throughout the same and substituting the words “ Ellerslie Borough Council.”
FIRST SCHEDULE
ALL that portion of the Great South Road, in the North Auckland Land District, One Tree Hill Borough, comprising the footpath and kerbing on the south-western side of the said street extending from Manukau Road to Cornwall Park Avenue (formerly called Heald Road), a distance of approximately 69 chains ; shown by yellow colour on plan.
SECOND SCHEDULE
ALL that portion of the Great South Road, in the North Auckland Land District, One Tree Hill Borough, comprising the footpath and kerbing on the north-eastern side of the said street extending from Cornwall Park Avenue (formerly called Heald Road) for a distance of approximately 75 chains to a point 7 links south-east of the north-western boundary of Wairakei Road at the boundary of the City of Auckland ; shown by orange colour on plan.
As the said portions of street are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 90097, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 26th day of September, 1945.

The Animals Protection (Canadian Goose) Warrant 1945

PURSUANT to section eight of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare as follows :—
- This Warrant may be cited as the Animals Protection (Canadian Goose) Warrant 1945.
- This Warrant shall take effect on the day following the date of notification thereof in the Gazette.
- Canadian goose (Branta canadensis) shall, with respect to the South Canterbury Acclimatization District, cease to be included in the Second Schedule to the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 25th day of September, 1945.

Foreign Award to Personnel of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve

ADVICE has been received from the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London that the French authorities have awarded the Croix de Guerre to Temporary Acting Lieutenant Ross McKenzie Cramond, Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, for service in the invasion of France.
Biographical Details.—Temporary Acting Lieutenant Cramond was born on the 27th December, 1919, at Brisbane, Australia, and prior to entry in the naval service was a bank officer. He joined the Royal New Zealand Navy as an Ordinary Seaman (Scheme “ B ”) on the 18th December, 1940, and after completing his training overseas was promoted to Temporary Sub-Lieutenant, R.N.Z.N.V.R., on the 2nd April, 1942, and to Temporary Acting Lieutenant on the 1st July, 1943. He was Mentioned in Despatches on the 11th November, 1944, for good service in the invasion of Normandy. His next-of-kin is his wife, who resides in the United Kingdom. His father is Mr. G. R. Cramond, care of New Zealand Insurance Company, Limited, Queen Street, Brisbane, Australia. Temporary Acting Lieutenant Cramond has recently been demobilized from naval service and is at present residing in Wanganui.
