Casual Vacancy
I HEREBY give public notice that the Rev. Clyde Leonard Carr, being the only nomination received, is hereby declared duly elected by such of the members of the Legislative Council as are for the time being resident in the Provincial District of Canterbury, together with such of the members of the House of Representatives as for the time being represent electoral districts wholly or partly within the said provincial district, to fill the casual vacancy created by the resignation of T. H. McCombs, Esquire, and will hold office for the residue of the term of the latter, which expires on the 4th January, 1947.

GISBORNE BOROUGH COUNCIL
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND
In the matter of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, and the Public Works Act, 1928.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Gisborne Borough Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute certain public work—namely, the augmentation of the borough water-supply—and for the purpose of the said public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk, Gisborne Borough Council, Read’s Quay, Gisborne, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or the taking of such lands who have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or the taking of the said lands must state their objections in writing, and send the same, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Town Clerk at the Council Chambers, Read’s Quay, Gisborne.

WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL
In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1928, and in the matter of the proposal of the Waipa County Council to take part Allotments 6 and 7 of the Parish of Mangapiko for a sand-pit.
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the Waipa County Council proposes to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a sand-pit—for which purpose the following land requires to be taken by the said Waipa County Council under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, that is to say: All that piece of land containing 1 acre and 23 perches, more or less, being parts Allotments 6 and 7 of the Parish of Mangapiko, situated in Block I of the Puniu Survey District; as the same is delineated coloured red on a plan lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland as No. 32498. A plan of the land required to be taken as aforesaid is open for inspection at the office of the Waipa County Council, Bank Street, Te Awamutu.
All persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-founded objections to the execution of such works or to the taking of such land, and to send such writing to the Waipa County Council within forty days from the date of the first publication of this notice.

UNDER THE MINING ACT, 1926
To the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Alexandra.
PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926, the undersigned, His Majesty the King, hereby applies for a license for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.
Mark on pegs: K.
Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 13th June, 1945, at 11.30 a.m.
Address for service: At the office of Osborne Stevens and Stevens, Solicitors, Clyde.
Dated at Clyde, this 18th day of June, 1945.
SCHEDULE
LOCALITY of the race, and of its starting and terminal points; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise: Commencing at the intake of Water-race No. 253 (Blacks) in Spottis or Thomson’s Creek in Section 12, Block L, Tiger Hill, following thence the course of the said race and terminating at a point near the old mill.
Length and intended course of race: 200 chains; southerly.
Points of intake: One.
Estimated time and cost of construction: Already constructed.
Mean depth and breadth: 1 ft. 6 in. by 2.
Number of heads to be diverted: Two.
Purpose for which water is to be used: Irrigation.
Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.
