Land Surveyors' Examination, September, 1945.—Australia and New Zealand
The Survey Board of New Zealand,
Wellington, 9th July, 1945.
IT is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors' Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyors, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 3rd September, 1945, at Wellington.
Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 20th August, 1945, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.
Candidates may present themselves for examination in the following written subjects :—
After one year's service—
(1) Physics, geology, and forestry.
(2) Plotting and plan drawing.
(3) Computations A.
After two years' service—
(4) Computations B.
(5) Engineering surveying.
(6) Town-planning.
After three years' service—
(7) Laws and regulations.
(8) Astronomy and geodesy.
(9) Land-surveying design.
(10) Preparation of field notes.
(11) Land classification and valuation.
During the war period candidates who have completed at least two years' service under articles of indenture will be accepted for examination in any or all of the above written subjects, and, with candidates presenting themselves for examination in any written subject or subjects, may present themselves for examination at any Chief Surveyor's Office.
The oral and practical portion of the examination cannot be taken until the candidates' term of indentureship has been completed.
Candidates for the oral and practical portion of the examination must sit in Wellington. Plans for this portion of the examination, the certificate, and other evidence required by Regulation No. 31 of the Survey Examination Regulations 1943, must be forwarded with the application to sit.

Notice to Persons affected by Application for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Taking of Fish for Sale
E. J. Crossan, Ngamuka, French Pass, has applied for a variation of his existing license in respect of the "Pauline," NN. 702, so as to permit him to operate his 14 ft. vessel "Teddy" (to be constructed), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at French Pass.
J. Kimmins, 149 Marine Parade, Seatoun, Wellington, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-vessel "Coral" (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Seatoun, and also for a fish-retailer's license to enable him to sell his catches at boatside.
D. Costie, 5 Canada Street, Timaru, has applied for a variation of his industrial fishing license in respect of the "Seaforth," TU. 3, so as to permit him to operate a new 45 ft. 60 h.p. engined vessel (yet to be built), using trawl-nets, catches to be landed at Timaru.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
S. A. MacDougall has applied for a license under the Industrial Efficiency Act to resell motor-spirit from three petrol pumps to be installed at new garage premises situated at Cranford Street, St. Albans, Christchurch.
C. F. B. Ross has applied for a license under the Industrial Efficiency Act to resell motor-spirit from one petrol pump to be installed at garage premises situated at Skeet Road, Auroa.
W. Myers has applied for a license under the Industrial Efficiency Act to resell motor-spirit from two petrol pumps to be installed at proposed service-station premises, Glenfield, such pumps to be transferred from applicant's present garage and service-station premises situated at Onewa Road, Northcote.
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
O. B. Baker, 690 Manukau Road, Epsom, Auckland, has applied for a license for the manufacture of women's footwear of the sandal type, riveted soles.
Central Boot Repairs, Ltd., 305 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland, have applied for a license to permit the manufacture of wedge sandals by the riveted process.
K. A. Pullman, 66 Hinemoa Street, Rotorua, has applied for a license to manufacture roman sandals, leather and wedge heels, riveted soles.
Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 26th July, 1945, to G. L. O'Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
