Resignation of Commissioner of Supreme Court
NOTICE is hereby given that George Harold Walker, Esquire, of Melbourne, Victoria, who on the 16th day of July, 1913, was appointed a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand for the taking of affidavits in Victoria, having retired from practice as a solicitor, has resigned his said appointment as Commissioner.

Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed
ROSS GIBSON MACFARLAN, Esquire, of Melbourne, in the State of Victoria, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria, has this day been appointed by the Right Honourable Sir Michael Myers, G.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in the State of Victoria under the 47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

Authority from the Minister of Finance to the Commissioner of Taxes to collect Social Security Charge and National Security Tax on Payments made to Workers by Means of Sale or Delivery of Goods to Workers and Repurchase or Redelivery of Such Goods for Consideration after Work is performed thereon
(1) PURSUANT to section 13 of the Finance Act (No. 2), 1942, I hereby authorize the Commissioner of Taxes, in any case where goods or articles are sold, disposed of, or delivered by any person to a worker and are subsequently repurchased or reacquired from the worker for consideration or for an increased consideration after work has been performed thereon, the consideration or difference in consideration being in effect a payment for the work performed by the worker, to collect social security charge and national security tax from the payments made by such person to the worker as if the moneys so paid, subject to the deduction of the amounts specified in clause 3 hereof, were salary or wages of the worker.
(2) For the purposes of this authority the term “worker” means any person who purchases, receives, or otherwise acquires goods or articles and performs work thereon or in relation thereto other than a person whose trade or business is or includes the performance of such work and whose business premises are registered under the Factories Act, 1921–22, as a factory for the performance of such work.
(3) In calculating the amount in respect of which social security charge and national security tax is payable there shall be deducted from the payments made by any person to a worker in respect of any goods or articles any amount paid by the worker to such person in respect of such goods or articles and any other amount which, in pursuance of subsection (4) of section 13 of the Finance Act (No. 2), 1942, may be fixed by the Commissioner as representing expenditure incurred by the worker in the production thereof.
(4) For the purposes of this authority all moneys credited to or applied on account of a worker or any person shall be deemed to have been paid when so credited or applied.
(5) For the purposes of this authority goods shall be deemed to have been repurchased or reacquired by a person if repurchased or reacquired by an agent of such person or by any firm or company in which such person has a substantial interest or which, in the opinion of the Commissioner, is directly or indirectly under the control of such person.
(6) Words importing the singular number include the plural number and words importing the plural number include the singular number.
(7) Words importing the masculine gender include females.
(8) All words referring to persons include firms, persons, companies, and other bodies of persons, incorporate or unincorporate.
