The Sawmilling Industry (Easter Holidays) Notice 1945
NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to Regulation 20 of the Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1944, the Timber Controller hereby requires and directs as follows:—

This notice may be cited as the Sawmilling Industry (Easter Holidays) Notice 1945.

Except with the precedent consent of the Timber Controller—
(a) Every undertaking in the sawmilling industry shall, in the week commencing on the 26th day of March, 1945, be operated until a time not earlier than the usual closing-time on Wednesday, the 28th day of March, 1945; and
(b) Every worker who in that week is for the time being employed or engaged in or in connection with that undertaking shall in that week work until a time not earlier than the usual closing-time on Wednesday, the 28th day of March, 1945. -
Except with the precedent consent of the Timber Controller—
(a) Every undertaking in the sawmilling industry shall, in the week commencing on the 2nd day of April, 1945, be operated from a time not later than the usual commencing-time on Wednesday, the 4th day of April, 1945; and
(b) Every worker who in that week is for the time being employed or engaged in or in connection with that undertaking shall in that week work from a time not later than the usual commencing-time on Wednesday, the 4th day of April, 1945. -
(1) Where, pursuant to Regulation 20 of the Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1944, any direction has been or is hereafter given by the Timber Controller in respect of any undertaking in the sawmilling industry requiring that undertaking to be operated for a specified number of hours in any week or requiring the workers employed or engaged in or in connection with that undertaking to work for a specified number of hours in any week, nothing contained in that direction shall apply with respect to the weeks commencing on the 26th day of March, 1945, and the 2nd day of April, 1945, respectively.
(2) Except as otherwise specially provided herein, the provisions of this notice shall be in addition to and not in derogation of the provisions of any such direction as aforesaid. -
Nothing in this notice shall be construed to require that any of the operations of any undertaking in the sawmilling industry be not carried on at any time during the period commencing at the usual closing-time on Wednesday, the 28th day of March, 1945, and ending at the usual commencing-time on Wednesday, the 4th day of April, 1945, or that any worker employed or engaged in or in connection with that undertaking shall cease to work at any time during that period.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections in the Westport Colliery Reserve are open for lease by ballot under the Westland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Amendment Act, 1926, the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908, and the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1944; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, up to noon on Monday, 30th April, 1945.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the Lands Office, Westport, on Wednesday, 2nd May, 1945, at 2 o’clock p.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicants are required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of weighting for improvements.
