NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to the authority conferred on the Bureau of Industry under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936, the following decisions have been made in respect of applications for licenses.

Taking of Fish for Sale
J. Rihari, Purehua, Bay of Islands, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 22 ft. launch “Tawera” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Russell.
N. Saltamanicas, Gisborne, has applied for a license to operate the fishing-vessel “Mermaid,” NR. 20, using set-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Gisborne.
A. S. Annan, Carey’s Bay, Port Chalmers, has applied for a license to permit him to operate the vessel “Stina,” DN. 57, using trawl-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Port Chalmers.
H. Nathan, Tangoake, Te Kao, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 20 ft. 16 h.p. launch “Helena A” (not yet registered), using set-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Te Kao.
R. Kay, 27 Littlebourne Road, Dunedin, has applied for a license to operate his 22 ft. launch “Sheila” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Port Chalmers.
R. B. Sheather, The Heads, Whakatane, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 12 ft. outboard-motor boat (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Whakatane.
E. G. Lealand, 23 Grafton Road, Auckland, has applied for a variation of his existing license in respect of the fishing-vessel “Ngarn,” AK. 78, so as to permit him to also use trawl-nets, catches to be landed at Auckland.
E. W. De Lisle, Whakatiwai, Kaiaua R.D., Pokeno, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 16 ft. 5 h.p. launch (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Whakatiwai, and also for a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to sell his catches at boatside and from premises in Whakatiwai.
W. S. Howson, 111 Bridge Street, Nelson, has applied for a license to permit him to operate the fishing-vessel “Bon,” WT. 146, using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Nelson and French Pass.
Fish Canning
Thomas Nolan, Hokitika, has applied for a license to engage in the industry described as the preservation for sale in hermetically-sealed cans, jars, or other containers of fish in respect of whitebait only from premises at Waiataroa, South Westland.
Canning of Fruit and Vegetables
Swift (N.Z.) Co., Ltd., Wairoa, have applied for a license to enable them to engage in the canning of fruit and vegetables.
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
Perrys Shoes, Ltd., Christchurch, has applied for an extension of their existing license to permit the machining of uppers for British Shoes, Ltd., at Lyttelton.
Pharmacy Industry
C. G. Mahon, Great South Road, Papatoetoe, has applied for permission to open a new pharmacy at the premises situated at 87 Great South Road, near the intersection (Market Road).
R. D. Jack, 23 Ocean View Road, Northcote, Auckland, has applied for permission to open a new pharmacy at premises to be erected at the corner of Victoria Road and King Edward Avenue, Belmont, North Shore, Auckland.
Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 25th January, 1945, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
Notice calling up Reservists for Service with the Armed Forces

I T is hereby notified for general information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by Regulation 44 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, I have, on the 11th January, 1945, issued to—
Norman Owen Davies, Seaman, 29 Marion Street, Wellington, Registration No. 660774,
a notice calling him up for service with the Armed Forces, such person having been convicted for that, being a reservist belonging to a division of the Reserve the enrolment of which has been proclaimed, he did fail to make application in writing for enrolment in that class of the Reserve as required by Regulation 43 (1) of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.
