Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940
IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a Testing Officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

The Sale of Corn-sacks Control Order 1944
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Primary Industries Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Minister of Agriculture doth hereby make the following Order.
ORDER
- This Order may be cited as the Sale of Corn-sacks Control Order 1944.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies with respect to new corn-sacks that are or are reputed to be of any of the following dimensions, namely :—
(a) 48 in. by 26½ in., or
(b) 46 in. by 26½ in., or
(c) 46 in. by 23 in.
RESTRICTION ON SALE OF SACKS TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
- (1) No person whose business comprises the selling of new corn-sacks shall, without the prior consent of the Primary Industries Controller or of a person acting with the authority of the Controller, sell any new corn-sacks that are or are reputed to be of the dimensions of 46 in. by 23 in.
(2) No person whose business comprises the selling of new corn-sacks shall, without the prior consent of the Primary Industries Controller or of a person acting with the authority of the Controller, sell any new corn-sacks that are or are reputed to be of the dimensions of 48 in. by 26½ in., or 46 in. by 26½ in., unless he sells to the same purchaser at the same time at least one second-hand corn-sack for every two new sacks :
Provided that the restriction imposed by this subclause shall not apply in any case where the purchaser states, in writing delivered to the vendor and signed by the purchaser, that the sacks are intended for use by him as containers of peas, machine-dressed grass-seed or clover-seed, machine-dressed or field-dressed turnip, swede, rape, kale, chou moellier, or mangel seed, or field-dressed certified grass-seed or clover-seed.
(3) No person shall purchase any sacks to which this Order applies if the sale of those sacks by the vendor would be in contravention of the terms of this Order.
(4) No person shall use any new corn-sacks acquired by him pursuant to this Order as containers of potatoes, chaff, bran, or pollard.

Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1944.—Declaration of Essential Undertakings No. 154
IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 11 of the Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1944, the Minister of Industrial Man-power doth hereby declare the undertakings set forth hereunder to be essential undertakings for the purposes of those regulations :—
Remodelling and rebuilding of freezing-chambers for Taranaki Producers’ Freezing Works Co., Ltd., at New Plymouth.
Construction work on freezing-works buildings for Thomas Borthwick and Sons (Australasia), Ltd., at Waitara.

Revocation of the Shipping Safety (Queen Charlotte Sound) Order 1942
PURSUANT to the Shipping Safety Emergency Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Defence doth hereby revoke the Shipping Safety (Queen Charlotte Sound) Order 1942†.

PURSUANT to the Shipping Control Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Naval Board of New Zealand doth hereby revoke the Shipping Control (Queen Charlotte Sound) Notice 1942†.

The Shipping Safety (Wellington) Order 1944 (No. 2)
PURSUANT to Regulation 4A of the Shipping Safety Emergency Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Defence doth hereby make the following Order :—
- (1) This Order may be cited as the Shipping Safety (Wellington) Order 1944 (No. 2).
(2) This Order shall take effect on the day following the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.
- (1) This Order is in substitution for the Shipping Safety (Wellington) Order 1944†, and that Order is hereby accordingly revoked.
(2) The revocation of the said Order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the date of the taking effect of this Order.

This Order shall apply with respect to all small craft, as defined in the Shipping Safety Emergency Regulations 1940‡, to which the Shipping Control Emergency Regulations 1939§ do not apply.

No master or person in charge of any small craft to which this Order applies shall cause or permit the vessel to be anchored in any part of the waters described in the First Schedule hereto, other than that part of those waters included in the examination anchorage for the Port of Wellington as described in paragraph 22 of the Public Traffic Regulations 1939|| for that port.

Except in accordance with the terms and conditions of a written permit granted by the Naval Officer in Charge, Wellington, no master or person in charge of any small craft to which this Order applies shall cause or permit the vessel to be in any part of the waters described in the First Schedule hereto.

No master or person in charge of any small craft engaged in fishing, being a vessel to which this Order applies, shall cause or permit the vessel while so engaged to be in any part of the waters described in the First Schedule hereto.

No master or person in charge of any small craft engaged in fishing, being a vessel to which this Order applies, shall cause or permit the vessel while so engaged to be in any part of the waters described in the Second Schedule hereto at any time after sunset and before sunrise.

Except in accordance with the terms and conditions of a written permit granted by the Naval Officer in Charge, Wellington, or by the District Inspector of Sea-fishing at Wellington, no master or person in charge of any small craft engaged in fishing, being a vessel to which this Order applies, shall cause or permit the vessel while so engaged to be in any part of the waters described in the Second Schedule hereto at any time after sunrise and before sunset.
FIRST SCHEDULE
PROHIBITED ANCHORAGE AND FISHING AREA : RESTRICTED PASSAGE FOR SMALL CRAFT
THE waters in the Port of Wellington within the following limits : From Pencarrow Head in a 344° direction to Dorset Point ; thence along the shore to Gordon Point ; thence in a 089° direction to the southern extremity of Ward Island ; thence in a 082° direction to Okuri Iti Point ; thence along the shore to Pencarrow Head.
SECOND SCHEDULE
RESTRICTED FISHING AREA
THE waters in and near the Port of Wellington within the following limits : From Baring Head Lighthouse (lat., 41° 24′ 28″ S. ; long., 174° 52′ 20″ E.) in a 316° direction to the western entrance point of Lyall Bay ; thence along the shore to Dorset Point ; thence in a 164° direction to Pencarrow Head ; thence along the shore to a position on the shore 316° from Baring Head Lighthouse.
