WAIHEMO COUNTY COUNCIL

BY-LAW NO. 2

Prohibiting the Cutting of Grass for Seed on Roads and Streets

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers, provisions, and authorities vested in it in that behalf by the Counties Act, 1920, and section 161 of the Public Works Act, 1928, or otherwise enabling it in that behalf, the Council of the County of Waihemo doth hereby, by special order, make and ordain the following by-law :-

1. The short title of this by-law shall be “The Waihemo Council By-law No. 2 (Prohibiting the Cutting of Grass for Seed on all Roads and Streets) 1944.”

2. This by-law shall read as follows: The Waihemo County Council prohibits the cutting of grass for seed on all roads and streets within the County of Waihemo without the previous consent in writing of the said Council.

3. Every person who infringes this by-law or who refuses to comply with any of the provisions of this by-law shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a penalty not exceeding ten pounds (£10).

The above by-law was duly made by special order passed at a special meeting of the Waihemo County Council on the 18th day of September, 1944, and confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the said Council held at 11 o’clock in the forenoon on the 24th day of October, 1944, and ordered to come into operation on the 11th day of December, 1944.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Waihemo was hereunto affixed this 24th day of October, 1944, in the presence of—

NOTICE OF CHANGE OF SURNAME

I, WILLIAM CHARLES TAYLOR, formerly of 11 Torquay Street, Abbotsford, Dunedin, but at present a member of the Royal New Zealand Navy, heretofore called and known by the name of WILLIAM CHARLES BUCHANAN, hereby give public notice that on the 23rd day of November, 1944, I formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of my said surname of BUCHANAN and then assumed and adopted and determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the surname of TAYLOR instead of the said surname of BUCHANAN ; and I give further notice that by a deed-poll dated the 23rd day of November, 1944, duly executed and attested and enrolled in the office of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, in the City of Wellington, on the 28th day of November, 1944, I formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the said surname of BUCHANAN and declared that I had assumed and adopted and intended thenceforth upon all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the surname of TAYLOR instead of the surname of BUCHANAN, and so as to be at all times thereafter called, known, and described by such adopted surname of TAYLOR exclusively.
