Price-reduction Order No. 1 (Imported Hand-knitting Wools)
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by clause 7 of the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939, Amendment No 3,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price-reduction Order:—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price-reduction Order No. 1, and shall come into force on the Ist day of December, 1944.
  2. In this Order, the expression “fixed maximum retail price”, in relation to any goods to which this Order applies, means, as the case may require, the maximum retail price fixed in respect of those goods by Price Order No. 226t, or the maximum retail price authorized in respect of those goods by the Tribunal by approval given pursuant to subclause (3) of clause 13 of the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939t.
    APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
  3. (1) Except as provided in subclause (2) hereof, this Order applies with respect to all imported hand-knitting wools (however named or described) in respect of which there was a fixed maximum retail price in operation immediately prior to the coming into force of this Order.
    (2) This Order shall not apply with respect to any imported hand-knitting wool of which the fixed maximum retail price—
    (a) Is less than ls. 3d. an ounce; or
    (b) Exceeds 2s. 6d. an ounce.
    REDUCTION OF FIXED MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICES
  4. (1) The fixed maximum retail prices of all goods to which this Order applies are hereby reduced as follows:—

    | Not less than ls. 3d. but less than ls. 7d. | 1d. per ounce. |
    | Not less than ls. 7d. but less than 2s. ld. | 2d. per ounce. |
    | Not less than 2s. 1d. but not more than 2s. 6d. | 3d. per ounce. |
    (2) Price Order No. 226t and the approvals referred to in clause 2 hereof shall hereafter be read subject to the provisions of this Order.
