Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Taking of Fish for Sale

J. G. Tulloch and H. H. Tulloch, 44 Norway Street, Wellington, have applied for a variation of their respective fishing licenses in respect of the fishing-vessel “Fiona,” WN. 290, so as to permit them to operate the 92 ft. steam-trawler “Phyllis,” catches to be landed at Wellington.

A. W. Oldman, Torquay Street, Kaikoura, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 31 ft. 27 h.p. engined vessel “Spec” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Kaikoura.

H. F. Cantwell, York Street, Picton, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 42 ft. 16 h.p. engined vessel “Twilight” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets and long lines, catches to be landed at Wanganui.

W. H. Leef, Park Hill, Panguru, Hokianga, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 16 ft. fishing-vessel “Seagull” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Panguru, and also for a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to hawk his catches for sale at boat-side and in Panguru only.

G. B. Taylor, Kerikeri, has applied for a variation of his existing license so as to permit him to use his 31 ft. fishing-vessel “Manawanui II” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Mangonui and Parengarenga.

E. Beaver, Mangonui, has applied for a variation of his existing license in respect of his fishing-vessel “Mona,” RL. 476, so as to permit him to operate in its place the 43 ft. 45 h.p. engined vessel “Briny Marlin” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Mangonui.

Manufacture of Paper-pulp and Paper-products

Barlow Bros., 188 Durham Street, Christchurch, have applied for a license to commence the manufacture of hand-made paper from waste paper and waste materials.

Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 2nd November, 1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

Fish Canning

Sanford Ltd., Jellicoe Street, Freeman’s Bay, Auckland, have applied for a license to engage in the industry described as the preservation for sale in hermetically-sealed cans, jars, or other containers of fish (whitebait only).

Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application should make any desired representations in writing not later than 27th October, 1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

The Foodstuffs Rationing Coupon Notice (No. 2) 1944

PURSUANT to the Rationing Emergency Regulations 1942, the Rationing Controller hereby gives the following directions :—

  1. This notice may be cited as the Foodstuffs Rationing Coupon Notice (No. 2) 1944.

  2. The various classes of coupons hereinafter referred to are those contained in the 4th series ration books.

  3. Tea coupons of the numbers specified in the first column hereunder shall be available for the supply of a total of 8 oz. of tea in the respective periods of four weeks specified in the second column hereunder :—

(2) No person shall in any hotel or restaurant catering for casual guests serve any person with a meal containing meat (not being coupon-free meat) except against the surrender of the appropriate number of available coupons. The appropriate number of coupons shall be computed as if the value of the meat contained in each such meal served to any person was 3d.
