Appointment of Officer for the Purposes of the Fisheries Act, 1908

BY direction of the Hon. Minister of Marine, it is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and Documents Act, 1919, appointed John Alexander Ramsay, of Greymouth, to be an officer for the purposes of Part II of the first-mentioned Act in respect of the Grey District Acclimatization District.

Additional Member of Domain Board appointed

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:

And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman;

And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 25th day of August, 1944, make an order determining the basic value of the land:

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:

Now, therefore, I, Clarence Farringdon Skinner, Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, do hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and I hereby specify the 1st day of February, 1945, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE

HAWKE'S BAY LAND DISTRICT

All that parcel of land situated in Block XVI, Heretaunga Survey District, and Block I, Kidnapper Survey District, containing fifty (50) acres two (2) roods and ten (10) perches, more or less, being part of Block 9, Te Mata Crown Grant District, being Lot 1 on Deposited Plan 3896, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 35, folio 236 (Hawke's Bay Registry).

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Ilam Extension No. 29, affecting part of Rural Section No. 12 and other part of Rural Section No. 12, Canterbury Land District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Karamu and Karaka Streets shown thereon should be of the width of 66 ft.:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power him thereunto enabling, the Minister of Lands doth hereby authorize the laying-off of Karamu and Karaka Streets of a width of not less than 50 ft.: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such streets.

Given under the hand of the Minister of Lands, this 3rd day of October, 1944.
