to be Gaoler of His Majesty’s Prison, Napier, under section 5 of the Prisons Act, 1908, on and from the 24th day of June, 1944.
Colin Ainslie Montgomerie
to be Registrar of Marriages for the District of Grey for the purposes of the Marriage Act, 1908, and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Grey for the purposes of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, on and from the 4th day of July, 1944.

Date of Election of Insurance Members of the Carterton Fire Board
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 7th August, 1944.
PURSUANT to section 24 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, I, William Edward Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Tuesday, the 22nd August, 1944, to be the day for the holding of an election of two members of the Carterton Fire Board by fire-insurance companies which for the time being are carrying on business within the Carterton Fire District.

Withdrawing Portion of a Notice of Intention to take Land for a Public Work
WHEREAS notice was given bearing date the 24th day of August, 1943, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 26th day of August, 1943, at page 1023, that it was proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take for a public work the land described in the Schedule to the said notice, and being situated in Block IX, Belmont Survey District:
And whereas notice was thereby further given that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they had any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the 1st day of September, 1943, to the Minister of Works at Wellington:
And whereas the owner of the land described in the Schedule hereto has sent to the Minister of Works an objection to the taking of such land:
And whereas due consideration has been given to the said objection:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Works hereby gives notice that it is no longer proposed to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purpose set out in the said notice dated the 24th day of August, 1943.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land affected: 26·67 perches. Being Lot 7, D.P. 9993.
Situated in Block IX, Belmont Survey District (City of Lower Hutt).
In the Wellington Land District as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 117542/21051, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured orange.
As witness my hand at Wellington, this 4th day of August, 1944.

Notice of Intention to take Land for a Public Work
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto, together with the right-of-way appurtenant thereto created by Transfer No. 184544, Auckland Registry, for a public work: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Morrinsville and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the 15th day of August, 1944, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 4·63 perches.
Being all the land on D.P. 27914, being portion of the Motumaoho No. 2 Block.
Situated in the Borough of Morrinsville (Auckland Land District).
As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 119726, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged green.
