Notice defining a Rescue station Levy Area in the Buller Coal-mining Area
WHEREAS by subsection four of section six of the Coal-mines Amendment Act, 1936, it is provided that every rescue-station established in accordance with the foregoing provisions of the said section shall be established in respect of an area to be defined by the Minister by notice published in the Gazette:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said subsection four of section six of the said Act, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Mines, do by this notice define the area described in the Schedule hereto as an area (to be known as the “Buller Rescue-station Levy Area”) in respect of which a rescue-station may be established.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District comprising the Mokihinui, Steeples, Kawatiri, Ngakawau, Orikaka, Waitakere, Ohika, and Brighton Survey Districts, and Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, and VI, Inangahua Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked N. 8/58/20, deposited in the Head Office, Mines Department, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 17th day of July, 1944, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, I, Clarence Farrington Skinner, Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, do hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and I hereby specify the 14th day of August, 1944, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
ALL that parcel of land containing ninety-four (94) acres and twelve (12) perches, more or less, being part of Section Eighty-seven E (87E), Edendale Settlement, Block I, Mataura Hundred, and being all of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 133, folio 288 (Southland Registry).
As witness my hand, this 1st day of August, 1944.

Medical Supplies Notice 1944, No. 3
PURSUANT to Regulation 6 of the Medical Supplies Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Michael Herbert Watt, Medical Supplies Controller, do hereby give notice as under:—

This notice may be cited as the Medical Supplies Notice 1944, No. 3, and shall come into force on the day following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.

The Medical Supplies Notice 1942, No. 3, and the Medical Supplies Notice 1942, No. 4, are hereby amended by omitting from the Schedule to each of the said notices the words—
“1. Caffeine and its salts.” -
Nothing in the last preceding paragraph hereof shall affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation to the notices therein mentioned committed before this notice comes into force.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Taking of Fish for Sale
J. S. R. Manson, Greville Harbour, French Pass, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 20 ft. fishing-vessel “Pup” (not yet registered), using set-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at French Pass.
H. E. Carter, 170 Cameron Road, Tauranga, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 35 ft. 20 h.p. engined vessel “Dora B” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Tauranga.
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
Glow Products, Christchurch, have applied for a license to manufacture slippers of the moccasin type.
Bowerco Products, Boulcott Street, Wellington, have applied for a license to manufacture ballet shoes, by the pump-sewn process, and boxing, wrestling, baseball, hockey, football, and basketball boots by the machine-sewn process.
A. Carew, 79 The Strand, Tauranga, has applied for a license to manufacture beach and health sandals, men’s (sizes 5–10), women’s (2–7), and children’s (3–2).
Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 17th August, 1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

NOTICE is hereby given that in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 23 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, it is my intention to cancel the registration of the New Zealand Metal-workers’ Assistants’ Industrial Association of Workers, registered No. 1832, situated at Wellington, after the expiration of six weeks from the date of this notice in the Gazette unless in the meantime cause is shown to the contrary.
