Decisions of the Bureau of Industry under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to the authority conferred on the Bureau of Industry under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936, the following decisions have been made in respect of applications for licenses.

J. Chapman, Motueka For a license to permit him to operate his launch “Elsinore” (not yet registered), using long lines and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Riwaka. Declined 17 July, 1944.
G. A. Whiting, Motueka, and J. Climo, Washington Valley, Nelson For licenses to permit them to operate the 30 ft. fishing-vessel “Viking” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Nelson and French Pass Declined 17 July, 1944.
R. Humphries, 23 Pembroke Road, Wadestown, Wellington For a license to permit him to operate his fishing-vessel (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Makara; and also a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to sell his catches at boat-side Declined 17 July, 1944.
G. A. Thorrinton, South Titirangi Road, and V. J. Ibbertson, Arthur Street, Ponsonby, Auckland For licenses to permit them to operate their 26 ft. 16 h.p. engined launch “Lorraine” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at South Titirangi, Manakau Granted 17 July, 1944.
E. Bradshaw, Karitane, Otago For a license to permit him to operate his fishing-launch “Miranda” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Karitane Granted 17 July, 1944.
Gustave Sixtus, Kaitereiteri, Riwaka For a license to permit him to operate his 15 ft. motor-boat “Maude” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Kaitereiteri Granted 17 July, 1944.
R. W. A. Pum pa, 166 Hardy Street, Nelson For a variation in the conditions of his industrial fishing license to permit him to operate a new 43 ft. 35 h.p. engined fishing-vessel “Aloma” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, in place of the “Jessie Logan,” NN. 842, which is to be delicensed in the industry, catches to be landed at Nelson Granted 17 July, 1944.
H. Walker, Anakoha, Pelorus Sound.. For a variation in the conditions of his industrial fishing license in respect of his vessel “Ramona,” NN. 716, catches landed at Havelock, so as to permit him to also operate his motor-boat “Toy,” using the same mode of fishing and the same port of landing Granted 17 July, 1944.
E. Mason, Anakoha, Pelorus Sound.. For a license to permit him to operate his 16 ft. fishing-boat (not yet registered), using long lines and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Havelock Granted 17 July, 1944.
D. W. Galbraith, Yare Street Extension, Oamaru For a license to permit him to operate the fishing-vessel “Forward,” OMU. 14, using long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Oamaru Declined 17 July, 1944.
A. S. Mitchell and B. A. Mitchell, 50 Edward Street, Timaru For a variation in the conditions of their respective licenses so as to permit them to operate the fishing-vessel “Alice,” DN. 92, using trawl-nets, set-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Timaru Granted 17 July, 1944.
R. Bennett, Tirohanga, Opotiki For a license to permit him to operate his 16 ft. motor-boat “Victory” (not yet registered), using drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Tirohanga and Opape Beaches, and for a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to hawk his catches for sale at boat-side and in the Opotiki County from the west side of the Waioeka River to the Torere Native area on the east end of the Coast Road, excluding one-mile radius from the centre of the Opotiki Borough Granted 17 July, 1944.
M. Sevelj, Kaikohe For a license to permit him to operate his 35 ft. fishing-vessel “Miss Kaikohe” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Whangaroa Granted 17 July, 1944.
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
N.Z. Agencies Co., 59 Manners Street, Wellington For a license to manufacture adults’ and children’s beach clogs Declined 17 July, 1944.
P. R. Jenkins, 110 Khyber Pass Road, Auckland For a license to manufacture children’s sandals and shoes, sizes 5 to 2, and ladies’ sandals, sizes 2 to 7, by the machine-sewn and riveted processes Declined 17 July, 1944.

Taking of Fish for Sale

E. Guinan, Saxon Street, Motueka, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 21 ft. 20 h.p. engined vessel “Daphne” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Riwaka.

W. Kelly, 78 North Street, Timaru, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-vessel “Homeland,” LN. 181, using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Timaru.

I. R. Davy, 90 Shamrock Street, Palmerston North, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 21 ft. 22 h.p. engined vessel “Happy Days” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Foxton.

B. Hakaraia, Orokawa Bay, Russell, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 26 ft. 12 h.p. engined vessel “Joan” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Russell.

W. R. Taylor, Brind Street, Russell, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-boat “Amy” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Russell.

G. B. Carter, Russell, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 16 ft. fishing-vessel “Nelly C” (not yet registered), using set-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Russell.

Fish Retailing

J. E. Nuttall, 83 Manchester Street, Christchurch, has applied for a fish-retailer’s license to permit him to sell cooked fish from his shop premises at that address to be known as “Nuttall’s Cafe.”

Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than 10th August, 1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
