Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III
of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Taking of Fish for Sale

C. H. Williams, Gladstone Road, Richmond, Nelson, has applied
for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-vessel “Thistle-
dome” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines,
hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Nelson and
French Pass.

E. F. Williams, 115 St. Asaph Street, Christchurch, has applied
for a license to permit him to operate his 40 ft. 12 h.p. engined
vessel “Karitane” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, drag-nets,
long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at
Akaroa.

Fish Retailing

Mr. C. E. Fairweather and Miss D. P. Fairweather, 47 McMaster
Street, Invercargill, have applied for a fish-retailer’s license to permit
them to sell wet and cooked fish from premises at the corner of
Ettrick Street and Elles Road, Invercargill, to be known as “St.
George Fish Supply.”

Persons considering themselves materially affected by the
decision of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make
any desired representations in writing not later than 3rd August,
1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O.
Box 3025, Wellington.

Position: Lat., 37° 03′ S.; long., 174° 31′ E. (approx.).
New Abridged Description: Occ., 6 sec., 25 ft. 8 M. (U).
Alterations: On or about the 25th July the green and red
sectors will be removed and the light altered from flashing white
every 12 sec. to occulting white every 6 sec., eclipse 3 sec.

above flagstaff, has been altered from fixed white to flashing white
every second.

The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925.—Notice of
Proposed Cancellation of Registration

NOTICE is hereby given that in exercise of the powers conferred
upon me by section 23 of the Industrial Conciliation and
Arbitration Act, 1925, it is my intention to cancel the registration
of the Hokitika Licensed Vituallers’ Industrial Union of Employers,
registered number 1751, situated at Hokitika, after the expiration
of six weeks from the date of this notice, unless in the meantime
cause is shown to the contrary.

PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of
Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce,
doth hereby make the following Price Order:—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 258, and shall
    come into force on the 21st day of July, 1944.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER

  1. This Order applies with respect to towels and towelling
    imported into New Zealand from the United States of America.

FIXING MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICES OF GOODS TO WHICH THIS ORDER
APPLIES

  1. The maximum price that may be charged or received by any
    retailer for any goods to which this Order applies shall be the
    appropriate maximum price set out in the Schedule hereto.

RETAILER TO EXHIBIT RETAIL PRICES

  1. Every retailer who offers or exposes for sale any goods to
    which this Order applies shall keep in a prominent position in such
    proximity to the goods to which it relates as to be obviously
    descriptive thereof a ticket, placard, or label showing in legible
    and prominent characters the Lot No. and the retail price of the
    goods.
