SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE REDCLIFF RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the County of Waimate of the Canterbury Land District, containing 44,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point at the intersection of the left bank of the Waitaki River with the north-western boundary of Rural Section 22389 in, Block VI, Elephant Hill Survey District; thence proceeding in a north-easterly direction along the said north-western boundary of R.S. 22389; thence south-easterly along its north-eastern boundary to the north-western boundary of R.S. 22390; thence north-easterly along that boundary, north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western boundaries of R.S. 28739 to a road; thence easterly generally along that road to the westernmost corner of R.S. 18848; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the said R.S. 18848 to the north-western boundary of R.S. 21759; thence south-westerly along that boundary and the north-western boundary of R.S. 21758; thence south-easterly and north-easterly along the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of the said R.S. 21758 and the south-eastern boundary of R.S. 21759 aforesaid to a point on the south-western boundary of R.S. 18847; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of R.S.'s 18847, 18846, and 18845 to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned rural section; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of part R.S. 18012 to the Elephant Hill back road; thence south-easterly along that road to the southernmost corner of Section 30, Douglas Settlement; thence easterly generally along the southern boundaries of Sections 30, 31, 32, and 34, Douglas Settlement, to the Punchbowl Road; thence easterly along that road to its junction with the main highway (Waihao Downs–Waimate Road) at Waihao Downs Store; thence easterly along that road to the right bank of the Waihao River at Waihao Forks; thence south-easterly along the said right bank of that river to a point at its intersection with the eastern boundary of R.S. 20184; thence southerly generally along that boundary, to and along the Mount Harris Road, to and across Pike’s Point Road, and along the Cock and Hen Road to its junction with the Middle Road; thence south-easterly along that road and the Glenavy–Redcliff Road to its junction with a public road at the north-eastern corner of Lot 110 of Reserve 642 in Block XIV, Waitaki Survey District; thence southerly along the said public road to the left bank of the Waitaki River; thence north-westerly generally along the said left bank of that river to the point of commencement.

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 1st day of February, 1944

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS by section thirty of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, it is enacted that the Governor-General may, by Order in Council, on petition in that behalf signed by a majority of the persons qualified to be enrolled on the ratepayers’ list for any proposed district, constitute and declare any area of land of not less than one thousand acres a rabbit district under and for the purposes of Part II of the said Act:

And whereas, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section thirty of the said Act, a petition has been received praying that the area of land described in the Schedule hereto be constituted and declared a rabbit district under and for the purposes of Part II of the said Act:

And whereas the said petition is signed by a majority of the persons in the said area of land qualified to be enrolled on the ratepayers’ list for the said proposed district, and it is deemed expedient to give effect to the prayer of the petitioners accordingly:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby constitute by the specific name of the “Ohaupo Rabbit District” and declare that area of land defined in the Schedule hereto to be a rabbit district under and for the purpose of Part II of the said Act; and doth hereby further declare that the basis on which the Board to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be on the basis of the acreage of the rateable property in the said district.


SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE OHAUPO RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area of approximately 30,000 acres situated in the Waipa County: Bounded by a line commencing at a point on the north side of the Mangapiko Stream where it is crossed by the Te Awamutu–Cambridge Main Highway; thence north-easterly along that highway to the eastern corner of part Allotment 225, Pukekura Parish, as shown on D.P. 17300; thence in a westerly direction generally along the north-eastern boundary of part Allotment 225 aforesaid, the south-eastern boundaries of Allotments 307, 306, and 305, the north-eastern boundaries of Allotments 305, 304, 292, 286, and 217, all of Puniu Parish, the south-eastern boundaries of Allotments 181, 180, 179, 178, 177, 176, 175, 174, 173, 172, 171, 170, 169, 168, 167, 166, and 165, the north-eastern boundaries of Allotments 165, 193, 194, 195, 196, 197, 198, 199, 200, 201, 203, and 260, all of Ngaroto Parish, to the eastern boundary of the Ohaupo Town District; thence along the eastern, southern, and part western boundaries of that district to the Ngahinepouri–Ohaupo Road; thence generally westerly along that road and the road forming the northern and western boundaries of Lot 6, D.P. 7308, the western boundary of Allotment 370, Ngaroto Parish, to the northern boundary of Allotment 151 of the aforesaid parish; thence along the northern boundaries of Allotments 151, 161, and 159, all of Ngaroto Parish, to a stream intersecting the last-mentioned boundary; thence down that stream passing through Allotments 152, 159a, 158, 157, and 156, across a public road to the south-eastern boundary of Allotment 355, all of Ngaroto Parish; thence along the roads forming the generally northern boundaries of Allotments 156, 102, 103, 104, 81, 80, 79, 78, 77, and 76, the south-western boundaries of Allotments 76 and 75, the northern boundaries of Allotments 73 and 53, the generally western boundaries of Allotments 53, 54, 55, 56, and 57, all of Ngaroto Parish, to the northern corner of Allotment 49, Ngaroto Parish; thence along the north-western boundary of Allotment 40 aforesaid, the eastern boundaries of Allotments 42, 41, and 40, all of Ngaroto Parish, to Mangakaware Stream; thence down that stream to the Waipa River; thence southerly generally up that river to the Mangapiko Stream; thence easterly generally up that stream to the point of commencement.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, and of every other power in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby constitute and declare the parts of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto a catchment district under the said Act as from this second day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, and doth hereby assign to such catchment district the name of the “South Canterbury Catchment District.”


SCHEDULE

ALL those areas in the Canterbury Land District comprising:—
The Borough of Waimate (New Zealand Gazette, 1926, pages 734–5).

That portion of the County of Waimate, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea-coast in line with the centre-line of Mairos Road, forming the northern boundary of R.S. 35938, Block XII, Waitaki Survey District, being a point on the eastern boundary of the County of Waimate (New Zealand Gazette, 1926, page 734); thence westerly by a right line across the road reserve, to and along the said Mairos Road, to Dillon’s Road; thence northerly along that road to Cooney’s Road; thence westerly along that road to Main South Road; thence southerly along that road to Pike’s Point Road; thence along that road to its junction with McNaughton’s Road; thence north-westerly by a right line passing through Trig. Station G 28, Block X, Waitaki Survey District, to Trig. Station F 83, Block VI, Waitaki Survey District; thence northerly along the watershed east of McCullock’s Road and bisecting Section 8, Waikakahi Settlement, Block V, Waitaki Survey District, to Gravel Reserve 3471, at the northernmost corner of that section; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of Section 7, Waikakahi Settlement, Block V, Waitaki Survey District, to the centre of the eastern boundary of Section 6, Waikakahi Settlement, Block V, Waitaki Survey District; thence westerly along the watershed, passing through the centre of that section across McCullock’s Road to Trig. Station M 81, Block V, Waitaki Survey District; thence in a westerly direction following the watershed between the Waihao River and the Waikakahi Stream across part R.S. 17953, Rural Sections 17966, 16799, 14586, and 14585, to a public road at the north-eastern corner of R.S. 16797; thence westerly along that road to a point on the western boundary of R.S. 18959 on the watershed; thence westerly along the watershed across part R.S. 18012, Rural Sections 18963, 17588, 20548, 21947, and 22392 to Trig. Station, Elephant Hill, Block III, Elephant Hill Survey District; thence north-westerly generally following the watershed, passing through R.S. 22392 aforesaid and R.S. 26933, to a road forming the southern boundary of R.S. 27029; thence westerly along that road to its junction with Elephant Hill Road; thence westerly along that road to Trig. Station J at the north-eastern corner of R.S. 32807, Block XIII, Waihao Survey District; thence proceeding in a northerly direction along the watershed between the Hakataramea River and the south branch of the Waihao River, passing through Rural Sections 36395 and 36394 to the summit of Trig. Station E, Block EX, Waihao Survey District, continuing through R.S. 36394 aforesaid and R.S. 33901 to the junction of the main road to Waihao with a public road at the northernmost corner of the said R.S. 33901, Block IX, Waihao Survey District; thence northerly along the said public road to its intersection with the eastern boundary of R.S. 36389; thence continuing northerly generally along that boundary, passing through Trig. Station O, Block XIV, Nimrod Survey District, to Trig. Station U, Block XIV, Nimrod Survey District; thence north-easterly across the northern boundary of R.S. 36388 to the junction
