hereby approve of the following resolution passed by the Blenheim Borough Council on the twenty-fourth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, viz.:—

“The Blenheim Borough Council, being the local authority having control of the roads in the Borough of Blenheim, by resolution declares that the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1928, shall not apply to the western side of portion of Scott Street adjoining part Allotment 589 of Section 1, Omaka, Borough of Blenheim, and contained in the Certificate of Title, Volume 41, folio 31”; subject to the condition that no building or part of a building shall at any time be erected on the land fronting the western side of the portion of Scott Street (described in the Schedule hereto) within a distance of thirty-three feet from the centre-line of the said portion of street.

SCHEDULE

The western side of all that portion of street in the Marlborough Land District, Borough of Blenheim, known as Scott Street, fronting Lot 2, D.P. 1094, part of Section 1, District of Omaka, Borough of Blenheim. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 119539, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General, with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby amend and supplement the regulations referred to in the Schedule hereto as shown therein.

SCHEDULE

Regulations for the Government and Payment of the Royal New Zealand Navy, 1939

ARTICLE 194 : Cancel and substitute:—

  1. Gunnery, Torpedo and Electrical, Radio Improvements, and Air-observation Funds.—Grants are payable at the rates and under the conditions laid down in the King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 5th day of July, 1944

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS the Tapanui Borough Council having on the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, received from its valuer appointed under section eight of the Rating Act, 1925, a valuation list in the form numbered (2) in the First Schedule to the said Act did on the said first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, cause the list so sent to it to be deposited at the office of the Town Clerk, Tapanui, and did on the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, and the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, give public notice in the form numbered (3) in the said First Schedule of the matters prescribed by section fifteen of the said Act;

And whereas the acts aforesaid were done by the said Council irregularly in matter of form by reason of the facts that the said list was not signed by the valuer as prescribed by section eight of the said Act and not transmitted to the said Council within the time prescribed by the said section eight;

And whereas by reason of the premises the Council failed to cause the said valuation list to be deposited forthwith after the fifteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, and failed once in each week during the period until the fifteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, to give public notice of the matters prescribed by section fifteen of the said Act;

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section ninety-nine of the said Act, and so that the intent and purpose of the said Act may have effect, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby validate the deposit of the said valuation list and the public notice thereof given as aforesaid to the intent that the same shall be as valid as if the said valuation list had been signed by the valuer and had been transmitted to the said Borough Council on or before the fifteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, and had forthwith been deposited to lie open for inspection until the fifteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, and as if the said Borough Council had once in every week during such period given the public notice prescribed by the said section fifteen, and doth hereby extend to the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, the time for transmission to the said Borough Council and deposit by the said Borough Council of the said valuation list, and doth accordingly declare that the said valuation list shall not be called in question by reason only of the irregularities aforesaid.

Pursuant to the provisions of subsection two of section seventeen of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby appoint Owen Neil Campbell, Esquire, of Wellington, Retired Civil Servant, to be the Chairman of the Wellington Rural Land Sales Committee in the place of Thomas Jordan, Esquire, resigned.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in the Town of Cambridge East, Auckland Land District

HIS EXCELLENCEY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

Whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is a reserve duly set apart for a paddock for the use of the Stock Department;

And whereas it is expedient that the purpose of the reservation over such land shall be changed to a reserve for an addition to a public-school site;

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by subsection one (a) of section seven of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, doth hereby declare that the purpose of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto is hereby changed from a reserve for a paddock for the use of the Stock Department to a reserve for an addition to a public-school site.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

Whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is a reserve for a site for a mechanics’ institute and athenæum, and is vested in the Ohau Library and Mechanics’ Institute (Incorporated) ;

And whereas it is expedient that the vesting of the said land as hereinbefore referred to should be cancelled, and the Ohau Library and Mechanics’ Institute (Incorporated) has duly consented to such cancellation;

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance
